As The WSJ reports, with real-life applications to modeling viral outbreaks, Cornell offer dire warnings for those who live in Scranton, PA - with northeastern Pennsylvania as the U.S. location most at risk of being overrun by the undead.

I think its probably because the idea of a zombie apocalypse pretty much covers the whole breakdown of society.

In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I'm heading for one of the larger islands in the great lakes.

Is research into what would go down in the event of a pandemic being called a zombie apocalypse to make it sound trendy, so horror fans will pay attention? That is the most logical thing I could come up with, but I’m more into reality than into zombies/vampires/werewolves, etc, so I really don’t get it...

This study is flawed. The best place to be is not in the middle of nowhere, since that only postpones the inevitable. The best place to be is where the zombies can never reach you... on an island.
