K-State stuns KU as fans storm court

Have you seen this video? This is going to get worse. I think it is time to put an end to storming the court except for championship games.

Kansas State is a respectable program who consistently makes the tournament. They were a #2 seed in 2010. I can understand Little Sisters of the Poor storming the court if they beat Kansas but not a good program like KSU.

There’s a reason why basketball players are called “cagers.” Maybe it’s time to bring back the fan/player barrier fences.

Fortunately, We have President Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett looking out for us. They can get the Federal Government to solve this problem by putting armed Homeland Security Agents on the court at every NCAA basketball game. A few unruly students may have to get gunned down, but they will restore order to basketball courts across the land and we will be able to once again sleep soundly. By the way, don’t bring your dog to the game.

My standard for “did it go too far” is based on the following questions:

1) Was there any violence?
2) Were there any serious physical injuries?
3) Did anyone in the crowd projectile vomit?

If the answer to at least two out of the three questions is “NO”, then it did not go too far.

;-)

They’ve beaten them 4 times over the previous 53 meetings.

Nice to see real fans, instead of the corporate crowds that inundate most sporting events these days.

Seriously, though, the video looks to me like nothing more than a jubilant crowd celebrating a big upset. I don’t see where any harm was done.

As a Kansas alumnus I congratulate KSU on a well deserved win. Seems like everyone brings their A game when playing Kansas. I do think Iowa State might dethrone KU this year. Definitely one of the best conferences this year.

do college students have no sense of decorum or decency?

They beat Kansas last year and in 2011, so it is not nearly the upset that it is being labeled.

There is video of a fan deliberately running into a KU player, and the crowd accidentally pushing the KU coach over the scoring table.

The entire thing is just dumb. A player doesn’t need to worry about a fan doing him harm...and a coach should be able to get through the post game handshake with getting knocked over.

But I believe prior to 2011, it was 21 years staight KU had beat them in Manhattan. So yes them beating KU at home is quite an event.

A couple years ago one of my former students was arrested for storming the field at a college football game. Out of thousands not arrested he was one of the unlucky. All charges were later dropped in part because, despite all of the protestations of the college that students were trespassing when they stormed the field and that they should be prosecuted, the college was SELLING posters celebrating the win with a picture of the crowd on the field.

The prosecutor thought that the university was being just a bit hypictrital trying to profit from behavior they wanted prosecuted,

Rushing the floor was not the problem, surrounding Bill Self, the Kansas coach is the problem. They came right at him from the get-go.

With the exception of Kentucky, EVERY team that has beaten Kansas this year has stormed the court. Not very classy.

I don't think so. The K-State players were headed for the scorer's table to dance on it like they did last season and that's why the fans were headed in that direction. Bill Self (and Bruce Weber, the K-State coach) just didn't get clear of it quickly enough. Obviously, the K-State security staff need to be better prepared. That should have never happened.

The inexcusable action was the K-State "fan" deliberately ramming into the KU player (Traylor) from behind. Serious action should be taken against him by the university and/or law enforcement.
