Assad forces kill 48 civilians in Aleppo

Syrian regime forces killed 48 civilians in Hardatnin village in Aleppo in northern Syria, according to a statement released Saturday by the Syrian Revolution General Commission.

Regime forces killed 48 civilians by shooting or slaughtering the victims before withdrawing from the village Friday night. The victims included women and children. The massacre was discovered when the rebels completely seized control of Hardatnin village on Saturday, according to the statement.

The revolutionaries freed 150 civilians who were captured at a school in the village.

A field hospital documented a list of the 48 victims’ names.

Mustafa Sultan, a local activist in the area, confirmed the death toll saying that regime forces backed by Hezbollah factions killed the civilians before their withdrawal.

On Friday, Nusra Front said that it seized control of the strategic area of al-Mallah strategic from regime forces. Regime forces were trying to cut the road which the opposition forces use to transfer supplies in Aleppo’s countryside using the area’s strategic position.

A report released by a group of UN experts investigating war crimes on Friday, said that "unthinkable" crimes continue to occur on a daily basis in Syria as the conflict approaches its fifth year.

The UN commission of inquiry on Syria called for urgent attention to be paid to the shocking crimes committed by the Syrian regime, Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant militants and other armed opposition groups.

The report said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime's "surrender or starve" siege strategy has left thousands of people, particularly infants, dead over the past four years, citing the victims describing the regime's strategy as that of "draining the sea to kill the fish."

The regime has been using barrel bombs since 2012, targeting crowded areas, such as bakery lines, transportation hubs, apartment buildings, markets and aid distributions, which led to an increase in the number of persons with disabilities, according to the report.

Syria has been gripped by violence since the regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has left at least 210,000 people dead and displaced almost half of the country's population, according to the UN.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS:
The Syrian regime forces most likely are the only ones employed in this story, yet they did the extreme acts according to the UN. Obama's jihadi employment meme may be wrong.

At this point I would believe Assad over the UN or US.

The UN is 100% on the side of the Jihadi rebels. This is propaganda just like the old Assad “gas attacks”.
Obama says if he uses gas, we will give them airstrikes and establish a “no fly zone”.
And bada bing, an amateurish gas attack happens or a few gas shells supposedly happens within a week.

More rebel propaganda

Seeing as how members of ISIS/ISIL are not part of any government's military they are technically civilians.

I don't know who (whom?) to trust.

Never heard of Anadolu Agency and never heard of Syrian Revolution Commission or whatever they call themselves.

If Preezy Obola and our Men Seeking Men media pick up the story and run with it, I'll know it was ISISes who were killed.

Somebody killed a bunch of civilians there. We are relying on the “rebels” to tell us who killed them. It is actually ore likely that the “rebels” killed them. They kill for religious reasons and that includes women and children. Assad’s army is more likely to round up and kill the soldier age males in a village known to be anti-Assad.

Maybe so, maybe not.
NO ONE in that area is trustworthy.
NONE of them are our allies.

We should no even consider for 1 second taking sides and especially not sending our young men and women in to protect some Muslims from other Muslims.

One of the most dangerous “jobs” in the ME in just being a civilian. The battle for hearts and minds continues, unabated. ISIS tries to win minds by placing heads on posts. Assad tries to win hearts by firing a 7.62 MM through them. In any event, it is a lose/lose situation for civilians.

Our efforts at regime change in the muslim world don’t work.
We go from the admittedly unsatisfactory, murderous dictator leading a country like Iraq or Syria to an unqualified S***-storm, and we’ve done it repeatedly in the last 10 years.

preident Ubama’s foreign policy is so bad, it makes me choose between bad and worse. Who would ever have thought that I’d be aligned with Ghadafi and Assad against Ubama and the US State Department?

We live in crazy times.

Bingo!! When the Odumbo govey supports the rebels, clearly, Assad is better side of the two. It’s more likely that ISIS butchered the women and chillin after taking over, and then paraded them around as victims of Assad.

Absolutely, the UN and the US Obama Regime have become nothing more than apologists for the Islamists. Does ANYONE still believe this type of propaganda?

I realize that Assad is no angel but there’s a reason the Syrian Christians ran to him rather than the “moderate” rebels or ISIS.

If I were running the show I would be using the leverage available to talk to Assad about saving his country in return for getting Hezbollah out and starting some reforms in Syria.

Tribe vs tribe here, I’d speculate
Someone out for revenge for a betrayal
Maybe one that happened 700 years ago

The Russians have in the main had the good sense to let sleeping dogs lie and even throw the dog a bone every so often. Afghanistan was one of their mistakes. USSR in Afghanistan can be seen as a genesis of 9-11 because it galvanized the islamics and Bin Laden became involved and formed his networks. Who can imagine what plots are being hatched in the minds of thousands of ISIS and other radical groups running amuck in countries that are basically leaderless.
