George W. Bush Is Intervening in Iraq—Again

When Iraqi tribal leaders came to D.C. looking for help against ISIL, the White House refused. Then the former president made a call.

Late in the evening of Sunday, January 18, an eleven-member delegation of tribal leaders from Iraq’s western Anbar Province arrived in Washington, D.C. Just as their plane was touching down, Islamic State units back in Iraq attacked the compound of one of the delegation’s senior leaders, Sheik Ahmed Abu Risha, killing nine Iraqi police officers and wounding 28 of the sheik’s guards. A nearby Iraqi military unit failed to respond to repeated calls for help.

The brutal attack underscored the purpose of the Anbar delegation’s visit: The tribal leaders believed that they could defeat the Islamic State—but only if the Obama administration would agree to ship them weapons directly, bypassing Iraq’s untrustworthy Ministry of Defense. Yet after they arrived in Washington the tribal leaders found themselves thwarted at every turn in their efforts to meet with high-level administration officials. They were told they would have to take up these matters with new Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and would have to rely for weapons on those provided to them by Abadi’s ministry of defense.

That’s when George W. Bush called Abu Risha at his hotel in Washington.

It’s startling enough for a Sunni tribal leader to get a call from a former U.S. president—and even more so from Bush, who has been especially reluctant to interfere in world affairs since leaving office.

SNIP

Shia militias than Sunni tribesmen. Bush urged Abu Risha to extend his stay and meet with retired Gen. David Petraeus, as well as with Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham. According to Abu Risha, Bush pledged that he would “do everything I can” to help him get a hearing in Washington.

Anbar Province Government Dedicates Succes vs. Al-Qaeda to 9/11 Victims

RAMADI, Iraq - When members of the government of Anbar Province met with President Bush last week, they presented him with a letter dedicating their success in wiping out Al Qaeda here to the victims of Sept. 11.

The letter, which was obtained by the Daily News, was signed by Anbar Governor Mamoun Sami Rashid, Provincial Council Chairman Abdul-Salam Abdullah, and Sheik Sattar abu Risha, the sheik credited with beginning the Anbar Awakening. ...

You’re welcome. Sheik Sattar was in Amman and ran into a close friend at a tea-coffee sheesha ( Hookah) place. The friend he met is like a brother to me. My friend told Sattar he was nuts to go back to Anbar. Abu Sattar told him he had to end Al Qaeda in Anbar, it was his honor. Two weeks later he was killed. This is Sheik Ahmad. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/06/iraqi-sheikh-to-obama-we-miss-you.html Sometimes I think we should have just brought in the relative of Faisal II the last king of Iraq, from the UK and installed him and left. They are members of the Hashmite and related to Jordan’s King Abdullah.

Obviously the Shia run government can’t be trusted with it a near puppet to Iran. I hope the arming could be done, perhaps through a third party Arab country, such as Jordan, through the back door..

Just as obviously, Zero wants nothing to do with Sunnis who might not approve of Iran -- Iraqi Sunnis, Jordanian Sunnis, Kurdish Sunnis.

In other words, the tribes that are actually fighting ISIS.

The President of the USA is engaged in appeasing Iran. And ISIS.

An Iraqi once told me a saying,” That the Iraqi need a strong leader to stand on their head, so as they don’t jump up.” PM Abadi may be better on the ‘face” than Maliki, but he is still Shia and from the same political party as Maliki. I doubt the Sunni and Shia in Iraq will ever get along completely until Iran is stepped on big time. I agree that Obama is kissing Iran’s backside, and only for purposes he needs to get a legacy with a nuclear agreement with them. Which he won’t get or if their is something it won’t be honored for long if at all. We should never have withdrawn all forces from Iraq in 2010. It was stupid.. but then we have a community organizer in charge.

Obama is selling out the Sunni tribes who finally became our allies against Al Queda in Iraq in return for a kiss and a promise from the Shiites dominated by Iran. All this nonsense is predicated on the hope that it will impress the mullahs in Iran to end their nuclear program.

Obama and his little band of amateurs in the WH don’t have a clue that Iran will never make nice with us over their nuclear ambitions.

After Obama kisses their collective arses, they will take over southren Iraq and tell Obama to kiss off..

That is only a logical progression.

Somebody elected Barky. I’m just not sure it was the American people.

When you import millions from the third world you get third world values. And third world votes.

Illegal aliens have been given the “right” to vote.

For decades, individual bishops and the USCCB have been campaigning to overwhelm and destroy the pro-life movement by importing pro-abortion voters from other countries. Immigrants vote 70% pro-abortion.

The bishops leading this effort (O’Malley, Gomez, Dolan, Wuerl, Cupich) are among those who insist on giving Communion to pro-abortion apostate Catholics, despite the fact that doing so is a mortal sin. Only about a dozen American bishops are NOT committing this mortal sin.
