Regarding the supposedly-size 16/plus size model in the ad in SI-the size chart at the online place where I buy jeans cheap enough for work and nice enough for non-work show the measurements for an American size 14-16 as; bust 36.6 to 38, waist 31.5 to 33, hips 43-44.5-too big for that model except for her hips. She’s more like a size 10-12 with bust 35.5 to 36.6 and waist 28.5 to 30, but her hips at 46 won’t fit again. She is just a size 12 woman with huge hips-that is hardly what I’d call a real plus size model...
Oh, wow-the SI model is Michelle Obama-hips 15-16 inches bigger than her waist...
That’s not plus size, that’s double-plus ungood size.
Well, I thought a plus size model was a model that wore an extra large size-like maybe 18 or above-and was actually overweight.
Whether that woman in the ad is overweight depends on what you think “overweight” means, but while bigger than a small size, I don’t think she looks really fat or anything-she is just out of the usual proportion-having hip size and bust size more closely match, with a waist 8-11 inches smaller but I suppose it is all in the eye of the beholder, and one size literally does not fit all-do you prefer women who wear smaller or larger sizes?

I agree with you - and she probably looks smaller in person than in the photo. Just because she isn’t 6 feet tall and weighing 110 doesn’t mean she’s fat.

Remember when people said a camera adds 10 pounds? We are all made differently, depending on our genes-my cub has been 30 pounds or so overweight for a few years, because she learned to like sweets and other empty carbs after she grew up and moved from home-but her best weight is around 150, size 10-12, and she is 5’ 4”. She also has really big bones like her father’s whole family-her wrist is nearly 1/2 again the circumference of mine, and her boobs are a double D.
I’m 5’9”, 108-110, with small bones and a flat chest-unlike the cub, at 150 I would be seriously overweight, putting too way too much stress on my joints. Except for the facial features and voice, you would never know she and I were related, but when she was born, she weighed just under 6 lbs...
