Hey, exciting news from the coop! My Ameracauna laid her first blue egg Saturday! She laid another one yesterday.

It was small, around the size of a medium egg. I think most first eggs are smaller than normal. Her second one looks a little bigger. I should weigh them and compare. But the ruckus of ba-bocking out there Saturday afternoon let me know something was up. And it wasn’t Martha carrying on, it was Penelope, the noisy Australorp.
There is nothing more unseemly than for a man to flirt with another man’s dog. Oh, I loved that scene!

Very sad to hear ISIS say that 26 yo American nurse is dead. She has such a pretty, youthful smile in her picture. I just pray she did not suffer when she died.

I might be making too much sense, but doesn’t it stand to reason that a person should know if they go to a dangerous area-even for the most noble purpose of assisting those in need-that if the area is unfriendly to Americans and other westerners you may become a hostage? And if you choose to go there anyway and you are abducted, that your release will not be negotiated for with our enemies?
I think congress should get together and forbid Americans to go to those areas unless they are deployed there as a soldier. If a person manages to get around the prohibition and go anyway, then they should understand that if they are abducted their life is forfeit for their foolishness-no moms in hijabs begging and crying on TV, no presidential rose garden appearances, no money or terrorists changing hands as ransom, period. From things I’ve read, that is how it used to be...
