As racist as it may sound, natives in that country are used to wandering out into the jungle or the savannah and eating what they kill. There are *some* agricultural* subsocieties in Africa, let there be no doubt. But as far as I know they are in the minority and regardless, they are not used to arming themselves with AK-47s and slaughtering the neighboring village. But much like the American version, it is hard to develop a long term plan of self-improvement and general living versus going out and taking what you want or need; by force.

Basically you're right, for some reason they lack the idea of long term planning. They live for today and they don't think about tomorrow, next year or ten years down the road. I remember when I was a kid, I saw one of those education school films (I think it was one of the old "Coronet" films, maybe) that depicted a middle class South African family in the mid 1950's or 1960's. They had a standard of living much like the U.S. Sad to say, the South African family had it much better in 1965 than in 2015

What about the “long term” planning on the scale of, say, carjacking someone? Any analogy?
