I remember seeing a slight variation on that theme in an episode of "WKRP in Cincinatti" back in the 70s. Off topic, but if "Antenna TV" is available in your market, WKRP is back, along with Barney Miller, Three's Company, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and other comedies from the 50s, 60s, 70s.

Yup. As horrific as it is to imagine, caulking has been used on several occasions. One recent case (Apryl Brown) led to a staph infection and the woman having to have her lower arms and legs amputated.
Horrible stuff.
