How is iOS 8 doing on iPad 2s these days? I know when it first came out, lots of people said it was slow. But now that it’s up to 8.1.2, I wonder if the performance is good.

I mean 8.1.3, of course.

A very small minority were having troubles with iPad 2 and iOS 8 ... even while the majority were having no problems at all. But, as the updates have come out, the iPad 2’s have been doing better all the time with that small minority.

Fortunately, iOS 8.1.3 is only a small update, so it should have little effect on performance. The next big iOS update will likely be iOS 8.2, which will add Apple Watch support.

When I had a 16GB iphone I deleted apps u till I had sufficient memory for the update, then I restored them. They were waiting for me in the iCloud, in the App Store.

Last update was a resource muncher, and slowed my IPad down. Why should I trust them this time?

Delete old text messages. That usually clears enough space for me. And any photos you no longer want.

My girlfriend has an iPad 2 and never noticed any problems at all when she upgraded to iOS 8. No slow down, no lag, no WIFI problems. A small minority of iPad 2 users did have problems but it seemed to be related to which company provided certain internal components as to whether you would experience those problems. iOS 8.1 took care of some of those problems, iOS 8.1.1 others. I hope they have swatted the final ones with iOS 8.1.2.

I had some performance issues with my iPad 2 when IOS 8 first came out, but 8.1.1 fixed most of them. Just downloaded 8.1.3 and it is working fine.

Thanks for the replies. I upgraded to 8.1.3 yesterday, and so far things seem to be fine. Some apps seemed slower to open the first time after the upgrade, but overall I’m not noticing much difference, and maybe even performance improvements in some areas.

I dropped my iPad into a deep puddle of honey and I was sure it was dead.

I went out and bought a new iPad which I love. But I can’t believe I managed to get [most of] the honey off the iPad. I thought it was dead but after a hard restart I was back in business again.

Now I have two iPads and my first one.

However sometimes, some honey shows up on that iPad ... who knows from where!
