Panicked super rich buying boltholes with private airstrips to escape if poor rise up

Super rich hedge fund managers are buying 'secret boltholes' where they can hideout in the event of civil uprising against growing inequality, it has been claimed.

Nervous financiers from across the globe have begun purchasing landing strips, homes and land in areas such as New Zealand so they can flee should people rise up.

With growing inequality and riots such as those in London in 2011 and in Ferguson and other parts of the USA last year, many financial leaders fear they could become targets for public fury.

Robert Johnson, president of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, told people at the World Economic Forum in Davos that many hedge fund managers were already planning their escapes.

He said: “I know hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand because they think they need a getaway."

GettyAustralian outbackHideaway: Rich people are plotting to escape to remote parts of the world Mr Johnson, said the economic situation could soon become intolerable as even in the richest countries inequality was increasing.

He said: "People need to know there are possibilities for their children – that they will have the same opportunity as anyone else.

"There is a wicked feedback loop. Politicians who get more money tend to use it to get more even money."

He added: "I think the rich are worried and they should be worried. I mean inequality, why does it matter?

"Most people have heard the Oxfam statistics that now we’ve got 80, the 80 richest people in the world, having more wealth that the bottom three-point-five billion, and very soon we’ll get a situation where that one percent, one percent of the richest people have more wealth than everybody else, the 99."

If they ALL move south of the equator at the same time, will the earth tip over on its axis?

Maybe we’d better check with Rep Hank Johnson on this...

With any luck the masses could drive them from the DC Metro area like snakes out of Ireland or lemmings to the Chesapeake for floating observations.

Their wealth and power enable them to bend luck to their favor. Betcha if we could eavesdrop on their "bugout" prep discussion, we'd hear them mention Gstaad.

Let 'em try to run. An Alpine hunting trip would be sweet.

Then it would take a very short time to squander that wealth that you took from the people you shot...as the Soviets did.

Not sure the rich have thought this all the way thru -

Sure, you can buy a fenced enclave in a remote location, but who's gonna clean it? Who's gonna clear the runway for your jet and drive you to the house? You gonna mow your own lawn and do your own laundry? Who's gonna keep the riff-raff from coming over the fence and beating down your door?

Somewhere near the most desirable places on Earth, there's affordable housing. For the HELP. And they have relatives and friends. And they like to eat. And they know where the food is.

Actually, Galt converted all industrialists’ fortunes to gold and used it as the only exchange-standered in the Gulch.

“There is a wicked feedback loop. Politicians who get more money tend to use it to get more even money.”

Replace “politicians” with “fiscally responsible”, and...
THIS is why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
THIS is why forced financial equalization WILL result in pretty much the same financial demographics we see now.

If you squander your income, you get less.
If you manage your income (investing and spending less than earning), you get more.
