I haven't seen Schindler's List after all these years and am curious as to everyone's thoughts on the movie and also wanted to let my FReeps know it was going to be on.

Then you really should take the time to watch it - it’s quite an amazing movie, based on a true story.

Rough movie to sit through. Particularly the “cleansing” of the Warsaw Ghetto.

I saw this when it was just released. It’s a very good movie but I had to go into the ladies’ room to calm down during the film, it was so upsetting.

If you can ignore Liam Neeson's off stage liberalism, you will view one of the most well acted and spectacular movies ever made, IMHO.
The brutality of the Nazis is contrasted by Schindler's compassion for the Jewish people.
You'll also enjoy the very end, set decades later in Israel; but I don't want to ruin it for ya :-).

Back when I was in high school we set math class aside and watched The Holocaust mini series. It was math time well spent.
Our math teacher was a concentration camp inmate who survived.

Going to school in NYC and NJ, so many of my teachers were Holocaust survivors. Even my piano teacher who worked out of her house. My first landlord was a Holocaust survivor!

As someone who wasn’t a fan of Liam Neeson’s acting chops up to this point, I must say he’s wonderful in this.

PROCON’s post #5 says it all. Schindler's List is one of the best movies ever made. And the fact that it was based on true events makes it even more powerful.

Our math teacher was a concentration camp inmate who survived. I am an urban public school teacher. Back in the early 2000's an older lady worked in our building as a substitute teacher.
She was friendly, but never said much. The kids treated her shabbily, as they treated all subs. And by "shabbily", I mean they were disrespectful to her, insulting, and rude.
The administration did nothing to help her, as usual. It was only after she passed away that I learned she was a concentration camp survivor.

Mr Tchaikovski (not sure if the spelling is correct) made sure we knew he had been in a concentration camp. He had the fading tattoo on his forearm and didn’t cover it which led to questions.

One of the schools I taught in was in a part of the city originally settled by German immigrants. When I started there (early 1990’s) the student body was perhaps 30% German descent, 30% black, and 40% other. Most kids came from poor families (the middle class had by that time moved away).
Now here's the thing. I heard many anti-black comments from the German-descent kids. But I heard more anti-Jewish comments! Interesting, eh?

It’s a very good movie and very sad at the same time.
What strikes me as odd is that NO ONE seems to learn from this.
This is what happens when you give all the power to the government, take a way people’s human rights, their dignity, silence speech, take the guns, falsely accuse people, etc...
It’s a prime example of why you should not give power to the State under a Socialist system. It’s ASTOUNDING that leftist are TOO F*CKING STUPID to realize that Nazis were Socialist.
To: Enlightened1
The similarities are astounding.
Just the other night I watched a show about how the nazis cleared the people out of the forests to create wildlife preserves. They even bred particularly aggressive strains of animals that would attack anything that moved so the people would stay out.

It’s a good movie worth watching at least once. That’s as many times as I can watch a movie like this one. Same as Sophie’s Choice. Excellent movie but I couldn’t take watching it but one time.

One Day in Auschwitz is just starting now on both AHC and Discovery.
Kitty Hart-Moxon Auschwitz survivor spends a day with modern teen girls touring Auschwitz.

I despise Speilberg and just about everything he stands for. However,I *will* give him credit...*enormous* credit...for having made two of the most important English language films of all time...Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List.Schindler is a part of my rather small Bluray collection and I watch it about once a year.I don't watch it more frequently because I don't want it to become “ordinary” or “routine” to me.

1938 = So - you think Germany has a Jewish gun problem coz too many Jews got too many guns?
