If Republicans won't fight for late-term babies, what will they fight for?

Babies after 20 weeks of gestation can feel pain. If allowed a couple more weeks to grow inside their mothers, they can survive outside the womb. Most Americans — especially most women — believe that government should protect these babies by banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

After 20 weeks, a baby is entering her 6th month of in-utero life. She is forming taste buds and can hear her mother’s voice. At 20 weeks, an unborn child is on the brink of viability: James Elgin Gill was born after 21 weeks and 5 days gestation. He’s now a healthy 17 year-old.

Almost all countries prohibit abortion at this point. China, North Korea, the United States, and a few others allow it. Polls show that Americans favor a ban on aborting babies after this point.

In 2013, the U.S. House passed such a ban. This week, on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision — widely understood to be a sloppy mess of motivated reasoning — Republicans planned to pass it through the House again. But two co-sponsors, Reps. Renee Elmers and Jackie Walorski, removed their sponsorship and demanded party leaders pull the bill. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Speaker John Boehner complied.

I love your posts and am 100% behind you, however, your post seem to get fewer and fewer responses.

Might I suggest a way around this ... space them out a little. When folks are inundated with post on the same subject, by the same person ... they can become numbed by them. Consequentially, they tend to ignore them.

Not meant to offend, just a suggestion.

I’ve seen the GOP fight for two things that i can think of off hand.

Bigger government and Obama’s agenda.

I can’t really think of anything else.

My opinion:

1) They will fight to cross the aisle and work with the other side.

2) They will fight the Tea Party.

3) They will fight for amnesty.

4) They will fight for pork barrel projects in their districts.

5) They will fight against meaningful reform.

As a bonus, they will also try to fake out the republican base. By doing such things as having sham votes on Obamacare, taxes, spending cuts, abortion, immigration and national security.

It’s late here, so don’t jump all over me for giving an incomplete list.

Nothing.
Cruz/Palin all the way.

Both honor life and are dually capable of making the distinction of God’s greatest gift to mankind, life itself. Beginning in the womb to natural death.

I pray that the two of them come together in this most precious value.
Life of the human being is why Christ Himself became man.

And Satan himself became jealous because God Himself chose to become Man. And from that moment on, it was Lucifer himself who set out to destroy mankind. after all was it not the angels who were set above the human being?
Yet God Himself chose humanity.
In the beginning was the Word,
the Word was in God’s presence, and the Word was God.
He was present to God in the beginning.
Through him all things became into being.
and apart from Him nothing came to be.
Whatever came to be in him, found life.
Life for the light of men.
The light shines on in darkness,
a darkness that did not overcome it.
The New American Bible.
His Holiness Pope John Paul II

Chamber of Commerce Cash!

They no longer fight for the rights of the individual protected by the Constitution.

No, instead, they’ll lie to you to get elected, and then it is business as usual, pretending to half of what they are supposed to do, while pleasing their masters, and flat out refusing to do the other half.

They will fight for choice committee assignments, first spot on the ‘contrary vote indulgences list’ when they NEED to make a show vote for the sheeple, prime benefits and retirements and exclusion from laws for the sheeple, first place on the weekly Sunday political shows, invitations to all the ‘left parties’, and a comfortable K-Street lobbying job and Virginia Dacha when they are ready to hang it up.

They will fight for the right to keep all the money they get from any one willing to give it to them. Other than that, all those people who voted for them will be told to go straight to hell, they don’t even have to stop at “GO”.

Expect the worst and hope for something better. It’s getting such that that’s all we have.

You couldn't tell by Kartographer.

Methinks the true problem is the inherent futility of "soup kitchen" activism that has only succeeded at 40+ years of failure.

My answer may seem trivial, yet it is no less true:"Do or do not. There is no try."

I was neither elated nor hopeful the night of NOV 4 2014 as I envisioned then what is happening now.

At the time, I offered the opinion that the Republicans had been given one last chance to get it right and, if they blew it, there was no turning back.

They are now a dead party walking, IMHO.

They will fight for their country club masters that is who they will fight for. The only thing they ever accomplish is giving them tax breaks which is why I no longer support corporate tax breaks or low levels of taxation on these people until the border is secure, their media is fair to us and they start controlling sending. Until then they should pay taxes and a lot of them. They stab us in the back we stab them in the front.
