Tom Brady's tale doesn't hold weight [Says sack Brady for Super Bowl if he cheated]
ESPN ^ | Jan. 23, 2015 | Ian O'Connor

Under his oversized ski cap, Tom Brady could not hide from the fact he was convicting himself in the court of public opinion. The quarterback of the New England Patriots admitted that footballs pumped up to 12.5 pounds per square inch are "a perfect fit for me," yet swore he did not notice a difference in the AFC Championship Game when most of the balls had significantly less pressure.

Brady's story Thursday was harder to believe than the story of the 199th pick in the NFL draft becoming one of the greatest players of all time...

"I would never do anything outside of the rules of play," Brady said.

But his own words told a different tale, and as soon as he was done talking, a 17-year veteran of the quarterback position, Mark Brunell, said on ESPN that he was among those who didn't believe Brady. Earlier Thursday, even before Bill Belichick seemed to be throwing his franchise player under a triple-decker bus in his own news conference, Hall of Famer Troy Aikman said on a Dallas radio station the following:

"It's obvious that Tom Brady had something to do with this."...

Brunell was a very good qb, but he’s kinda left the reservation on this issue.

They won’t keep Brady out. No chance. That’s what today’s delay was all about. And it would be silly in any case. It did not affect the game. And Brady wasn’t the only one involved. Bellicheat knew, and Kraft too. Punish the franchise with draft picks and worse — salary cap space.

Deflation has certainly been the ONLY story I see in the pre-SB coverage. Now realize I’m in Indiana where that topic is a bit more sensitive.

My Disclaimer: NOT a Colts fan. NOT a Seahawks fan.

Well, only chance I would see is if some equipment mgr ratted him out to keep his own job...

But doubt that would happen...Bellicheat or somebody in Pat org would ensure that the guy would become Brady's PATsy first...and take the fall...aka "lone-nut theory."

I’m not a Patriots or a Seattle fan...but the longer this goes on the more I hope the Patriots beat Seattle by about 50. Brady should have answered like Broadway Joe might have. He should have said... “we didn’t need to cheat to beat that lousy Colts team. We’re gonna thump Seattle like a red headed step child.. I guarantee it.”

From the sports radio I’ve heard, nobody believes Brady.

There’s no evidence of anything in this matter.

If you are aware of any specific evidence, I’d like to hear it, but so far I have heard nothing other than an accusation.

I don't think would have happened if only down 7-0 at that point.

I think you're on to something. A deflated ball would make the Pats bolder, more willing to try big passing plays. And the success of those plays would make the Colts more desperate.

So I'm not giving much weight the huge point spread here. The spread sure could be caused by the cheating.

I do.

I’ve seen no evidence to cause me to believe that he’s lying.

Good grief.... this is one of the craziest statements I've heard about this topic. It ranks right behind the lady who though a football weighed 14 pounds when they played with it.

Why are you so certain that not only is Brady guilty, but that Belichick and Kraft were in on it as well?

Since ALL footballs are made to very specific standards, my question is when Brady said he felt each ball prior to game time for the ‘best feel’, what exactly made one ball feel better than the rest?

The idea that an offensive coordinator is sitting in the press box saying... wow we can throw it deep because the football has a pound and a half less air in it is completely stupid. I’m sorry. It just is. I’ve not played in the NFL, but I played a lot of quarterback. It is a stupid statement. Period.

Referee’s do not throw the ball. They do not need to squeeze the ball. They simply place the ball on ground for next play.

A QB on the other hand must grip the ball tightly to throw a pass. I am a tennis player, and I can instantly tell if the balls have deflated even slightly.

No ball boy will deflate the balls without orders from the coach or QB. Both QB Brady and the coach are lying.

No two footballs feel exactly the same. One might be a little slicker. One might be more tacky. One might have a little different feel on the laces. The seams could feel a little different. And the air pressure can make it feel a little different. But there are more factors to a football than just the air pressure.
