Surprisingly no, it’s a heavily Republican area now. Unfortunately at the local level there appears to be no correlation between party affiliation and venality and corruption.
Some years back probably 20 or so, we threw 5 Democrat County Commissioners out of office for a sneak gas tax increase. Care to guess what the new 100% Republican County Commission did within a year or two?
