IT might not be the best Bond film but the music for Moonraker by Yorkshire-born composer John Barry is out of this world.

Thirty six years after Roger Moore saved the world from baddies Hugo Drax and Jaws, fans of the late John Barry’s work are banding together to raise £25,000 for the entire film score to be re-recorded by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

You know, of all the Hollywood properties out there, I really think the one property that could really have a good time with a reboot was the James Bond franchise. I’d actually like to see a new director’s viewpoint on such movies like Moonraker.

Moonraker may have been the worst of all the Bond movies. The thing which really is hard to understand is why they changed the story.

The story in the book was really a good one and would have been perfect for a movie plot. Instead they changed it to something with no relationship at all to the book.

I liked “The world is not enough” by Garbage. Plus Shirley Manson is NOT GUILTY.

Alpert got the movie, listened to a bunch of Rota and Morricone; came up with this. You can hear the progressions lifted off Leone’s reel to reels.

That was a good song and Arnold’s music was good, but I did not like that they tried to make into a cross-over hit. I would left it more orchestral.

I like Chris Cornell’s voice in the Casino Royale (2006) theme song...

I saw Shirley Bassey perform at the hotel ‘El San Juan’ in Puerto Rico in the late 1970’s. She sang Goldfinger, among others.

Hey, thanks for that!
I really like her voice. Also got to see and talk to Barbara Eden on that trip. Both lovely ladies.

I second that!

Pussy Galore: My name is Pussy Galore.

James Bond: I must be dreaming.

Good one! I had forgotten about her.

Tragically, I have no swim trunks.

Neither do I.

I have to add that “Skyfall” by Adele brings me to a choke. I love the middle verse and the instrumental addition of the 007 theme within the song... it’s truly magical...
