A black Labrador named Eclipse just wants to get to the dog park. So if her owner takes too long finishing his cigarette, and their bus arrives, she climbs aboard solo and rides to her stop – to the delight of fellow Seattle bus passengers. KOMO-TV reports that local radio host Miles Montgomery was amazed to see the pooch get off the bus, without an owner, at a dog park last week. The dog and her owner, Jeff Young, live right near a bus stop. In Young’s words, “She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog.” Young says his dog sometimes gets on the bus without him, and he catches up with her at the dog park three or four stops away. Bus riders report she hops onto seats next to strangers, and watches out the window for her stop. Says commuter Tiona Rainwater, “All the bus drivers know her … she makes everybody happy.” A Metro Transit spokesman says the agency loves that a dog appreciates public transit.

Agility people are more interested in both sides heeling than hunting people, because you rarely if ever heel your dog on your gun side - but still handy to learn if, for example, you have a blind retrieve to the right and suction on the left. And very handy for hunt tests or field trials for the same reason - every little bit of gamesmanship helps!
Dogs are situational, so there will be some adjustment when you start heeling around outside. But she should be focused primarily on your knee, shoulder, and left hand - regardless of what's around her in the environment. And you will also be reinforcing the habit of obedience - and dogs are creatures of habit.
I'm starting a young Lab puppy right now on heeling, so I'm very conscious of the drill . . .

Thanks, I’ll try it. She is getting better at listening. I took her to two different trainers. She was more interested in playing.
Very nice! Thinking it might be St. Barth or Turks & Caicos - both have hotels with very nice bays, and people use the little golf carts to get around.
Persistence, persistence. Also, she’s getting older and more mature all the time. Age does make a difference.
She’s very cute and I can’t imagine life without her anymore.
Loved Green Turtle Cay. Could only get there by ferry. Very small and everyone knew everyone else. No locks on any doors anywhere as theft is/was unheard of. When our gal took us to our room and started to leave I stopped her...
Me: there’s no lock on the door
Her: why would you need a lock?
Me: so no one will take our stuff?
Her: why would they do that? That would be rude
The main rule on the island was don’t be rude.
We stayed here and it was perfectly wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm surprised this Lab puppy doesn't weigh 95 pounds, with all the treats I've been using. But it WORKS! She is the star of her obedience class, the instructor used her for "demo dog" this week.
Mine will work for food. Congratulations on being the star of the obedience class. I think mine has been up watching “Marley and Me” at night. LOL
But she is a nice dog. She’s sitting on the couch gnawing on a bone. I know it’s not the best thing for her teeth, but it’s better then her eating the furniture.
