“Well, without a championship game it’s hard to beat out other teams that do have one,”
So Notre Dame might as well hang it up with that logic, as they almost certainly won’t be able to get in.......
BTW, if you look at the teams in the national championship games since they started it, you will find that many times the conference tournament game did not assist in getting in the leader of the conference into the national championship game, but actually eliminated the best team in the conference from getting in.
It goes both ways. This year it just happened that the best team in the 4 conference made it past the conference championship game. Typically, it does not.
“The best in the SEC? I dont think so as Ole Miss is not Alabama”
Uh, reread please the first sentence of what I posted. Did it say Ole Miss was the SEC’s best team? Nope, I said it beat the best team in the SEC.
SEC fans have become blind to the world.
Pot meet kettle.
This year was a tale of two Ole Misses, brought about by the lack of any depth on the team. As the year wore on, they went from arguably the best in the country to the middle or bottom of the SEC. I agree that TCU should never have dropped from 3 to 6 in the last week, but there was more money to be made from having FSU and Ohio State in than some school that has Christian in its name.
There aren’t enough inter conference games to determine which of the top six teams belong in the four team playoff.

THAT is sad, on several levels.
The 59-0 win by Ohio State against a 10-2 team probably made the lack of a conference championship game insurmountable.
I’d like to see a bowl game vs. the worst 2 teams in college football with profiles on how bad each player was leading up to the hype of the game. The worst of the worst might be more apparent and/or convincing. It could bring out a lot of freaks for the tailgate and give losers something to identify with.

That's why ND is easing its way into the ACC. They see the handwriting on the wall. It's UTexas that couldn't see the trend, and their acolytes in the Big '12' did what they were told - or looked for the exit door.
The problem with increasing the number of teams in the playoffs is that these student athletes don’t have the time to study for exams that their non-football playing classmates have. That’s why the black GPAs are lower. Black students shouldn’t have to take classes and provide entertainment.
That’s not why black gpas are lower. The predominant number of black students are not on sports teams. Many colleges have December off except for exams.
Interestingly, that comment would also apply to the NFL.
“Get used to hearing that from SEC fans.”
Am watching the ACC kick ass of an SEC MSU team that was ranked #1 earlier this year.
Like I said, the SEC is a joke.
LMAO!!! The playoff should be Bama 2014 vs any old Bama team! SEC Rules! Bama Rules! RTR!
RTR ping
Well said. Ohio State lost at home to a Virginia Tech team that is marginal at best. Had TCU not lost to Baylor or had Baylor not lost to West Virginia OSU would be on the outside looking in. I guess the “committee” thought the Big 10 was better than the Big 12 overall. Personally, I think the 4th team in should’ve been Baylor because they beat TCU head-to-head but TCU would certainly have been a valid choice to compete in the semis as well. Either would be a tougher out for Alabama than OSU will be.
I think ECU is going to kill us, frankly, with our lame-duck coaching staff.
That’s funny! Even if you are an Ole Sis fan.
