A lawyer representing a 17-week-old fetus living inside the clinically dead body of its mother says the unborn child's right to life trumps the woman's right to a dignified death.
Conor Dignam made his closing arguments Wednesday to three Dublin High Court judges who must decide whether Ireland's anti-abortion laws permit the woman's life support machines to be turned off. Their judgment is expected Friday.

Believe so. . can’t recall the specifics but something like this has happened before.
Thing is, there should be no question: baby should have a chance at life. The mother is clinically dead so why kill the child as well.
Makes no moral sense to kill the baby.
Ireland (the land of my ancestors) has,in recent years, become a filthy,amoral nation.I wouldn’t bet a plug nickel that this court makes the right decision.

There is zero “in recent years” about it.
The abuse scandals involving both church run and state run juvenile facilities date back to the nineteen twenties.

There was a case within the last couple of years where a woman was brain-dead and kept on life-support because the baby was still alive. Her husband did not want the baby, and so judge-shopped until he found a judge willing to order the hospital to remove her body from life-support. The case went on for months until the husband found a judge willing to order the death of the child. It was really close—another week or so, and the child could have been removed safely and given a decent chance at surviving.
I remember that case. I think it was in Texas. In the present case, it would probably be safe to deliver the baby in 8 weeks.

A pregnant woman was murdered and they did a c section of the near term baby, not fetus, never a fetus, baby, so it is similar to keeping incubation going til term.
How horrible.
I'm guessing he's referring more to the movement away from the Church/tradition/morality, to agnosticism, immorality and materialism.
Same with my ancestor’s Scotland. :/
I am going to assert that the way those facilities were run is about as far away as you can get from scripture and morality.
My point stands within that context as well.
