Bill Callaham, a California lawyer, never had a chance to hand over his Rolex, cell phone or hundreds of dollars in cash. The men who attacked him from behind in the Central Business District never made any demands. They beat him unconscious, breaking his nose and his jaw. And afterward, he said, they took nothing.
"If somebody had confronted me and asked for money, I would've happily given them my money," Callaham said Friday, a week after the assault. "I don't know if it was random, I mean, I have no idea. I just think it's a sad state of society right now."

About the only place I used to feel comfortable going out alone at night was the Las Vegas Strip mainly because there are so many other people also out at night. Haven't been to Vegas in a few years, but I don't think I'd go out alone at night there now. Crime has taken over.

When you’re beat by people dressed in rags and worn hole filled shoes then you can suggest poverty.
A lot of people try and equate modern poverty with christian concepts of charity. Our poor have little in common with ancient poverty. Our able bodied men live relatively comfortably on welfare and desire luxuries. Back then poverty was usually caused by scarcity, infirmity, widowing, or some other intervention to good stable life.
Our poor acting up criminally do so due to spiritual poverty and not material poverty.
Looks like New Orleans has finally gotten back to normal after Katrina. Wonder if the crime rate is dropping in Houston, Baton Rouge, and Jackson.
Perhaps the fact that is a LAWYER contributed to getting his face rearranged.

If you are looking for a place to vacation, skip NOLA. It is a cesspool of violence & filth. Never walk alone there, day or night.
Grifters are everywhere. My wife & I were approached by a young couple with a baby asking for cab fair back to Metairie. We asked to see the baby, but they wouldn’t let us see it. As they walked away without our money it was plain to see the baby was a doll.
In the mornings, Bourbon street smells of stale booze, vomit & Clorox. Have breakfast somewhere else.
Detroit cannot be any worse than NOLA.
There has always been random crime in the French Quarter, but this kind of thing is happening more and more. And of course, not just there. but everywhere. I’m glad I don’t live in the area anymore, although it will start happening where I live too. But we have a different bread of whites where I live and there will be payback.
It was just dumb luck that he was a liberal lawyer from California who “would’ve happily given them my money”; there is approximately a 99% chance that it was some of Obama’s boys playing the “knock out game”.
