Did a plumber's pick-up truck from Texas end up carrying an anti-aircraft gun for Islamic
UK Daily Mail ^ | December 17, 2014 | Staff

Mark Oberholtzer isn't an Islamic fighter in Syria. He's never been to Syria. And the plumber from Texas City, Texas, says he certainly would never willingly aid fundamentalist rebels. So it's hard for him to understand how his Ford F-250 pickup truck - including his logo for Mark-1 Plumbing and his phone number - wound up being in a photo posted on Twitter by the extremist Ansar al-Deen Front from the front lines of the war in Syria. Mr Oberholtzer says he's been getting hundreds of phone calls and faxes since the Ansar al-Deen Front tweeted a picture of what appeared to be his old truck with an anti-aircraft gun in the back, according to the Galveston County Daily News. However, it remains to be seen if the photo is entirely authentic, with a new video surfacing which suggests the photo could have been digitally altered.

If the truck is in Syria it would sure be interesting to find out how it got there and who is giving the material aid to terrorists.

Certainly a DshK should be able to unclog most any plumbing.

In the past when he sold his work trucks, he always removed the logo first. The last time he got rid of a vehicle he didn’t.

Mark Oberholtzer says he has no idea how Islamists in Syria could have got hold of his truck Mark Oberholtzer says he has no idea how Islamists in Syria could have got hold of his truck Mr Oberholtzer, who has worked as a plumber for the past 32-years, assumed AutoNation would remove the decal before selling the truck.

Apparently it didn’t.

I would guess, photoshop or not, he won’t do that again.

Indeed. Who needs the entertainment industry when just plain “happenings” out there far exceed what any writer could come up with?

Life keeps getting stranger and stranger.

So apparently AutoNation buys old trucks, ships them overseas, and sells them to whoever has money and wants to buy them.

I owned a 9-year old Dodge Dakota. Had to replace the timing belt and the German mechanic did a lousy job....just never ran right after that episode. I ended up selling to a ‘dealer’ in the local area around Ramstein Air Base for $1,200 in cash. I asked the guy what he wanted the vehicle for and he had a number of particular vehicles that he’d put on a truck going to Bremerhaven’s port in north Germany. It’d get pushed on with 200 other vehicles and go via a small cargo ship to Africa. They’d sell the vehicles off the side of the port there for roughly $3k each....as long as they cranked up. His profit was $500 each, and the ship’s captain probably made at least $15,000 off the load (it was excess cargo).

Same deal probably goes in Texas, with some guy moving the truck to a port, and ends up at a port to be sold as excess cargo from a vessel.

In 1999 I advertised my 1988 Toyota 4WD regular cab pickup for $2995. I received multiple calls. Two guys asked me right away if it would pass inspection. I said yes of course. The second one I asked why? He said he bought old Toyota and Nissan/Datsun pickup trucks and sold them overseas. He shipped them to Central and South America. However, there were other guys that shipped them to Asia. He stated he could sell those brands for about 3x to 4x what they were worth in the US if they did not pass inspection here. Down there they would just repair the frame, etc and off they went.

A couple years pass and we invade Afghanistan. Sure enough, every time I see some Taliban guys riding around they are in an beat up old Toyota pickup. So that is why to this day I call them: Toyota Tacoma Official Vehicle of the Taliban.

To add to that: Toyota Tundra Official Vehicle of ISIS.

I am not sure this marketing idea will be popular with Toyota.

The U.S. Department of Energy is investigating how this truck got from Texas to Syria on one tank of gas.

Could this be the answer to Global Warming...errrr...I mean Climate Change?

Those Toyota trucks have been part let us say irregular forces since they gained famed during the Libyan-Chad war. The Chad army put men and anti-tank weapons on the beds and defeated the Libyan army armed with the latest in Soviet equipment.
