December 17, 2014, 08:15 am Obamas say they're no strangers to racism

By Justin Sink

The president and the first lady chronicled a series experiences in People magazine that they say demonstrated some of the latent racism that blacks in America continue to face.

"There's no black male my age, who's a professional, who hasn't come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn't hand them their car keys," the president said.

The first lady said someone had asked her husband to get them coffee because he was wearing a tuxedo at a black-tie dinner, and he “had his share of troubles catching cabs” when they lived in Chicago.

"I tell this story -- I mean, even as the first lady -- during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf,” she said.

O, c’mon. Has anyone, whatever the color of their skin, not been mistaken to be a sales clerk or waitress (etc)?

Did “O” feel oppressed when he was chasing those checks for aid to ‘foreign students’?

Did MO fee oppressed and when she attended college on her free ride-at the expense of American taxpayers?

Chapter I: A childhood of privilege, not hardship

First lady Michelle Obama told the Democratic National Convention that “Barack and I were both raised by families who didn’t have much in the way of money or material possessions.”

It is a claim the president has repeated in his books, on the speech-making circuit and in countless media interviews. By his account, he grew up in a broken home with a single mom, struggled for years as a child in an impoverished Third World country and then was raised by his grandparents in difficult circumstances.

The facts aren’t nearly so clear-cut.

Fact Check: First Lady’s False Fairy Tale of Struggle

by Joel B. Pollak 5 Sep 2012 2029 post a comment
First Lady Michelle Obama’s pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years—about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was “rusted out” and found his furniture “in a dumpster,” how they both came from families that had to “scrape by.” Her fairy tale—however well-delivered—was one great, big, colorful lie.

Both Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama began their adult lives with a leg up on the rest of America. They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicago’s upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School.

“[B]elieve it or not, when we were first married, our combined monthly student loan bills were actually higher than our mortgage,” Michelle said. That sounds like a raw deal—but in fact reflects their fortunate circumstances. They had both just graduated from a very expensive law school, and their combined income from cushy law firm jobs dwarfed the repayments. Barack also soon enjoyed a second salary from the University of Chicago.

They had expensive tastes, reflected in the $277,500 two-bedroom condo they bought in 1993—a high price even by today’s standards. Several years later, they moved into their $1.65 million mansion in Hyde Park—with the help of fraudster Tony Rezko. Barack often told a story of hardship on the campaign trail in 2008 about having his credit card declined—once. The fact that he thought this counted as real hardship speaks volumes.

As her husband moved onto the national political stage, Michelle Obama began to enjoy a lavish lifestyle at taxpayer expense, directly and indirectly. When Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, he obtained a $1 million earmark for the University of Chicago Hospital—and his wife’s salary as Vice President for Community Affairs jumped from $121,910 to $316,962. Her job: pushing poor, uninsured patients to other hospitals.....

He’s crying racism? He has been given everything without having to lift a finger, including the most prestigious job on the planet and when it becomes apparent that he is incapable of that he plays the race card.

If you are an affirmative action recipient, you automatically give up your right to call your padrones racists.

I am a middle-aged white lady and for some reason, when I'm walking down the sidewalk, I'm the one people pull over to ask directions of. It never fails. If there is anyone lost anywhere, they think I'm the one to ask for directions. This is ironic because I have no sense of direction at all, move too often to ever learn the lay of the land, and am not prone to exploring. I'm absolutely the last person you want to ask directions from. If it's not within 4 blocks of my house, I have no idea.

But I'm the one they ask. This does not cause me major anguish. Guilt sometimes, but not anguish. I also tend to be the one people put their children next to on the bus. When a woman clambers onto a bus dragging several small children with her and looking for an empty seat and a "nice" looking stranger, guess who gets tapped to baby-sit their offspring? And it doesn't matter what color they are, black, latino, Asian, white.... that nice white lady in the long dress is clearly the person who wants to sit next to their child. I have no particular fondness for small children (although I wish them no harm. Unless they're bratty.) But that's how it is. My life has been one long vista of trying to give directions and gently discouraging strange children from climbing on me. I suffer through it somehow.

To be fair, racism isn’t a stranger to the Obamas - it’s a close friend.

We had two offices on our infamous State Street. I walked (in my high heels and fox coat) from one office to the other one morning.

A car pulled up with a man in it....My boss laughed his _ _ _ off.

It’s disgusting, sickening, and just an embarrassment to see what he has done while in office. Such an opportunity lost with what he could have really done for race relations had he only tried.

Instead, all we get from him is ego, grievances, avoiding responsibility for failures, ect...ect. He is so beneath that office, and it will take a very long time to undo the damage that he has done to the presidency itself.

His failures can not be overstated.

Yes, just yesterday I was at “Staples” looking for something and asked a young lady, who was talking on her cell where an item was, I thought she was a store employee, but she said no and, I apologized.

He has experienced only 12.5% of the racism a normal black person would experience, seeing as how he is only 12.5% sub-Saharan African.

He is 37.5% Berber Arab. You know, the slavers.

I find this hard to believe. I mean, as wide as her ass is, someone had to ask her to move out of the way a couple times too.

Michelle is tall. Sometimes I ask tall people to help me take things off the upper shelves. It has nothing to do with race.

If not for racism he would be judged on his competence like white males are.

A valet is way way above the Dorkbama’s capability.

Face it, dork, you are a cretin.

The ONLY reason you are recognized at all is because of your race.

I think the Obamas have experienced a great deal of racism, and have benefitted enormously from it.

I have a sister-in-law that complained for years about discrimination for being Hispanic. It stopped when she married a white guy with a Germanic last name. Truth be told, she was full of $hit from the start.
