Woman Aborts Baby at 28 Weeks Because of Baby's Deformed Left Hand
National Catholic Register ^ | 12/11/2014 | Matthew Archbold

A couple in Australia has aborted their unborn child at 28 weeks after learning that the baby would be born with a deformed left hand. Mind you, at 28 weeks a baby has over a 90% chance of surviving outside the womb with proper healthcare. But the mother said she was "really, really depressed" about the baby's diagnosis so that would seem to trump the illegality or immorality of late-term abortions. The mother said she believed she would feel guilty for allowing a baby to live with a disability. "I grew up with many people who were disabled, and… there was discrimination," the mother told The Brisbane Times. "I didn't want my child to be discriminated against. The problem is... obvious because it is the fingers, and I think the child would have a very hard life." So in order to prevent the baby from ever being discriminated against, she killed the baby. Whew, and thus an imperfect life was narrowly avoided. My sister was born without a left hand, not even a deformed one. And she seems to be doing pretty well for herself. She's a mother of two and an actress in New York. Is she discriminated against? Sure. To think she should've been killed is preposterous to me. This thought that the imperfect life is not worth living is preposterous. Who has the perfect life? Who leads a life without sin, without hardship, without suffering discrimination? Those things are part of life, not an excuse to end it. You can not have redemption without sin or triumph without hardship or forgiveness without discrimination. My heart breaks over this case. The issue has created a legal stir and the woman has many defenders.

What a cold heartless BASTARD..and they allowed this to happen!!! Wait, almost forgot, in this country people are allowed to murder 9 month old babies..absolutely disgusting, and all because of a deformed hand which could have probably been treated with surgery..karma is a b*tch and this woman will get it in spades one day

If month after birth of perfect baby, if a child lose his hand or leg by ceiling fan dropping on his/her body, then mother will ask doctor to Euthanize baby. Baby is no more perfect.

That could have been the hand that cared for her in her old age.

But she killed it.

That is really sad.

All things in this world are not perfect. Sometimes it is the imperfections that are the true beauty of things.

It could have been worse. She could have prayed the Mass in Latin. You know, been one of those little groups of fundamentalists. Our version of ISIS.

“This thought that the imperfect life is not worth living is preposterous”

But you must keep in mind that the people supporting extermination ARE perfect! Only the perfect liberal deserves life (the definition of perfect fluctuating to meet the current PC trend). If they get their way, we’ll all be euthanized for for not conforming to the Perfect Utopian dream. The spirit of Mau and Stalin and Hitler is alive and well, courtesy of the bottomless pit.

That woman is incapable of loving any child. Obviously, to her, children are toys, to be discarded as soon as the newness wears off.

Seriously, who cares about a little deformity? People learn to cope with disabilities all the time; it really is no big deal. I hope she never visits a hospital with a lot of disabled people—none of them would be safe with her around.

Some guy - human “ethics” type guy (Princeton?) advocates letting people kill their children up to a certain age (several months). Lots of defects aren’t noticed until further along in development.

I was born with a club foot - the doctor didn’t know if I would ever walk normaly. I do, and did very well in sports as a kid. But I can still remember my mom doing therapy on my foot every night before going to bed.

I guess some moms are cut out for it - and other’s not. Too bad the “nots” can’t have their tubes tied in knots early on.

"I grew up with many people who were disabled, and… there was discrimination," the mother told The Brisbane Times.

I'm sure all of those disabled people she grew up with (supposedly) wish they were murdered instead of being (otherwise) discriminated against.

Unreal for sure. I have a dear friend who has a deformed hand. The woman who gave birth to her, gave her up for adoption and subsequently, her Mom treated her as if she had 2 perfectly good hands :)

She is amazing, what she does with one hand, I’m always in awe.

My best friend growing up had a deformity of both hands that affected almost all of his fingers, leaving most of them stubs.
His parents never let it affect his life. He played with the guys, was a Boy Scout, played French Horn and ended up becoming a Veterinarian, married, lovely wife and kids.

I'm sure all of those disabled people she grew up with (supposedly) wish they were murdered instead of being (otherwise) discriminated against.

And I grew up with people who were members of ethnic minorities, and... there was discrimination.

Ergo, according to her logic, babies of ethnic minorities should also be aborted.

Regards,

Yeah, I guess because blacks and Mexicans are supposedly discriminated against in the US, they should all just die off. /s

What a sick mindset and an outright lie. She just didn’t want to deal with a child who didn’t for her vision. It has nothing to do with discrimination. Just because a life is hard doesn’t mean it’s not right.
