Girls as young as 12 are getting cosmetic surgery such as butt lifts and nose jobs under the watchful eye of their mothers in a desperate and extreme bid to become beauty queens in Venezuela. In a country obsessed with winning international contests like Miss World and Miss Universe fame-hungry teens are going to shocking lengths to conform to the beauty pageant ideal. They include extreme measures to lose weight, with girls as young as 16 undergoing drastic surgery to cut out part of their intestines so food passes through their body without being digested.

Your kid is a U16 playing B level hockey in South Texas. If he is so good, how come he isn’t playing Tier 1 in Michigan?

When I taught, I mentioned to one of my kid's parents that he would benefit from an academic tutor on the weekends, and you'd have thought I was from another planet.
They'd spend thousands to improve their son's chances of becoming a home-town athletic hero, but not a nickel to improve his long-term academic success in college.
A friend of mine married a girl from Venezuela. She went to college in England before coing to America. They got married here then went to meet the family and her friends. He said it was like being in a Univision Soap Opera. All her friends were more beautiful than the next. and ALL were absolutely insane!
Believe or not Texas is producing hockey players but to your point they will need to play in the leagues further north to prove themselves.

Ever notice that England and Ireland never make the cut in these pageants? Yet many on this site seem to think that folks either from or descended from these cultures are superior...
I'm not arguing for or against the idea that English or Irish cultures have produced 'superior' people ... but I would definitely oppose the idea that a beauty pageant is an effective way of separating "superior" from "inferior" people. Most beauty pageant winners strike me as being decorative, but vapid.
