So how are we all faring here in the face of this deadly NorCal storm?

Since my house didn't blow away and I still have power I'm doing a cookathon laundry extravaganza!

nope, not living up to the hype - just another “big” rainstorm - pretty windy at times, but not crazy. Rain has been steady and moderate for about 12 hours, heavy for about 30 minutes just a bit ago here in Rocklin CA. A few trees down here and there. No power outages at home or work - internet and phone are fine. The drive into work was nice as there was very light traffic because the STORMAGEDDON WARNINGS!!!!! over the past couple of days.
ho hum

I think because we don’t deal with it often. And then the road gets greasy and slippery.

I hate the fast lane on the 10 just before downtown LA. It always floods. The traffic going the opposite way sprays water all over the windshield.

Then you hit a BIG puddle of water and you are floating at high speed ... no brakes, no nothing!

Well, after a long, long drought, when it rains, the water just runs off ... it doesn’t sink in.

Guy on the radio said only in the 20s was a longer drought.

Is this storm living up to all the hype?

I heard the cataclysmic report this morning, this storm is the worst to hit California in the past "HALF DECADE" (aka, five years but we all know that)........LOL!

I'm forever amazed (but not surprised) at the MSM's attempt to add drama to naturally occurring events.........sheesh!

Just checked the caltrans web cams for the Tahoe area. Rain. Squaw/Alpine upper areas snow. Lodge areas, rain. Local wx folks in Reno seem to be indicating that the wind “event” is mostly over here and precip maybe after midnight.

Lee Vining, reminds me of my favorite movie “Out of the Past”. The highway sign pointing to Lee Vining is in the opening credits of the movie.

A fan of the movie made this video of scenes from the movie:

I’m near June Lake. Just wind here so far. Storm is supposed to hit us tonight with a couple of feet of snow and 140 mph winds at the higher elevations.

It’s not like this rain of type I experienced in Oklahoma. That was real rain.

As someone residing in the Seattle area; I do kinda groan when people in CA are in hysterics over rain.

First the consumer must prove that green and lush lawn were from rain, and not regulated water from a hose. Until proof is establish, the consumer will still be subject to fines and state sanctions.
