Believe it or not, but the Ouija Board — a game that some believe opens the door to the spirit world — is one of the top trending toys that is “making a comeback this season,” according to Google.

And it’s a development that has some faith leaders warning of potentially disastrous repercussions.

Attributing the recent resurgent rise in popularity of the Ouija Board to the October release of a movie called “Ouija,” Google reported on its commerce blog that online searches for the board game are up 300 percent since the film reached the big screen.

An Irish priest who serves as an exorcist spoke on condition of anonymity recently, telling Ireland’s Independent that this development is anything but positive.

“It’s easy to open up evil spirits but it’s very hard to get rid of them,” he said.

Husband brought home a few things that a tenant left behind when they moved out. I looked in the bags and it was mostly older clothing which I donated but there was a little bag with tarot cards in it. I tossed the cards right away. When the kids came over he asked where they were and when I told him he said oh okay but they are only evil if there’s evil intent when using them. I see no purpose to it either way. I’ve always looked up movies before going to see one because I don’t like nudity and sex or gory scenes. I always got a lot of flack for that too. People look down on those with morals I don’t understand why.

Because you shouldn’t seek evil whether it is real or not. At some point, ask yourself why you want to play with fire.

Animal Planet ran a great series called “The Haunted”, which was about how animals are sensitive to ghosts/demons etc. Your “seance” probably conjured something up that scared the dog but that you didn’t notice.

Attempting to contact the dead is like opening up your front door and inviting anyone who passes by to come in. Even hard core “necromancers” say that ouija boards are dangerous. But like most things that are dangerous you are going to get away with it most of the time. But if you do end up inviting some creepy entity into your life it can be dang hard to get rid of it.

Sounds interesting. Just looked On Demand to catch the show, not there right now. I have a question...I Have a relative whom I Told my mom when I was young I think she’s evil. Turns out awhile back after relatives had no place to go and stayed with her they found out she fancies herself a witch, said she tried to curse people with a book of curses, had shrines set up with weird things. Anyways, she ended up being mean to them and they left. I have second hand furniture from her that I accepted (through someone else)before we found this out. I’ve also had some, let’s just say for awhile there we thought maybe our house was haunted. Nothing scary, just weird like noises.

I think we all experience weird noises in our homes late at night when everything is quiet which are not caused by anything supernatural. However if it makes you uncomfortable owning furniture that was once owned by someone who practiced witchcraft it might not be a bad idea to get rid of it in a landfill.

I am amazed at the crud kids see on television (I don’t watch) but, when someone is critical of you NOT watching it is because they know they shouldn’t be watching and are in rebellion. If they didn’t care then they have no guilt and thus no teaching. If they knew they would probably ridicule you.

I just realized it is extremely rare for us to say our Master would disapprove.

Do you think so? I always wondered and just assumed it was because they were raised differently and really see nothing wrong with it. I feel like the Holy Spirit gives me the convictions and it made me angry when people would make light of it/jokingly ridicule.

Absolutely. Those who protest too much are keeping themselves protected. Especially when it comes to porn or an addiction. They’re denying their addiction and need to affirm that they are in control.

Staying on topic—at some point, ask yourself why you would want a spiritually harmful activity to be portrayed as naturalistic and harmless.

Staying on topic—at some point, ask yourself why you would want a spiritually harmful activity to be portrayed as naturalistic and harmless.

It isn't harmless, but it is natural. The truth is the truth, no matter what. And if you tell children that ___ is evil, only for them to find out later that ____ has a logical, scientific, tested, proved basis, you most probably will have eroded their faith.

Children are falling away from church in great numbers as they grow older. Part of the reason seems to be that everything is candy-coated. When they get to high school or college and realize that everything is not so simple. They feel misled and leave.

Telling them the truth, not whitewashing; and taking the time to explain that some things are more complicated than they seem, would seem to be basic to retaining those who fall away. Children especially need the tools to make good decisions, but too often, we treat them as though they won't love the Lord without fancying it up.

There is more than enough evil in the world. Why say something is when it strictly isn't? Why not point to true evil and teach them why they should avoid it. And why not tell them that they should avoid it for another, different reason? Because the appearance of evil is to be avoided too? We are to avoid the appearance of evil. There is a Bible verse that addresses this directly: 1 Thessalonians 5:22 From all appearance of evil refrain yourselves.

There is a natural reason for the phenomenon of why Ouija boards "work". That doesn't make evil something you should want or chase after. Teach people the whole truth and they have a solid foundation. Teach them a half-truth and they do not. Teaching them the whole truth and that the Bible speaks to this exact instance is teaching them that the Bible is full of wisdom that addresses their every need.

How about this then. Because I agree with what you say about telling the truth. Explain that Ouija boards are evil because they involve summoning spirits and evil which is against God, but that prominent scientists have conducted studies providing a naturalistic explanation regarding Ouija boards.

Tell the whole truth, such as that these studies do nothing to dispel the evil of Ouija boards or the existence of demons.

And remind them that their faith be in the Lord Jesus Christ, not in the existence of evil.
