Happy National Genocide (Thanksgiving) Day!
Huffington Post ^ | 11-25-2014 | Nicole Breedlove

Thanksgiving has never been a celebratory holiday in my family. Whenever my family did cook we always gave thanks that all the Native Americans weren't wiped out when Columbus "discovered" America.

My teachers made it seem like Thanksgiving was a holiday to look forward to. The New York City public education system told me what Thanksgiving was all about. I was very careful to regurgitate what they taught me when tested so I wouldn't get a failing grade. When I was older though I was told the truth by my family.

Whenever someone asked what I was doing for Thanksgiving I proudly stated that I no longer celebrate it. Thanksgiving day should be known as National Land Theft and American Genocide Day.

Armed settlers -- which we tell our children were God fearing, gentle, sharing, kind Pilgrims -- invaded a Pequot village. They also set the village, which included many children, on fire. Those who were lucky enough to escape the fire were systematically sought, hunted down and killed. While many, including historians, still debate what exactly happened this day, also known as the Pequot Massacre, it directly led to the creation of "Thanksgiving Day." This is what the governor of Bay Colony had to say days after the massacre, "A day of thanksgiving. Thanking God that they had eliminated over 700 men, women and children."

So when you sit down to dinner this year, look at your family, serve the food and tell each other what you are most thankful for, think about the origins of Thanksgiving. Think about the countless Native Americans who lost their lives so you can carve a turkey and get the best deals on Black Friday.

This broad needs to get over herself. The Indians were doing worse to one another long before the pale-face ever showed up.

Yep, and I’d say Easter is definitely off their celebratory list.

Perhaps she could tell the truth that the original Thanksgiving was a celebration to the failure of Marxism. The Anti-America media is getting really old.

Pray America is waking

Uhm, the Mayflower passengers were pacifists. Columbus has nothing to with this holiday. In fact, the holiday only accounts for a 3-day feast—not all interactions between Indians and pilgrims.

I always thought the first Thanksgiving was a shared celebration with the Pilgrims and the Indians.

If the Indians were so great, they should have built sailing ships and guns and cannons and sailed to Europe to fight back.

Indians were killing Indians long before white people arrived.

Wait a sec. I thought Columbus Day was National Land Theft and American Genocide Day. I can’t keep up. Are there any days I can appreciate the greatest country in the world?

http://www.weyanoke.org/reading/tbw-PequotMassacre.html

A historian says it was a braggart’s lie to cover up his own military defeat in annihilating an empty fort.

What a load of tripe. The Pequot war was from 1634 to 1638. The first Thanksgiving was in 1621.

The perpetually aggrieved chime in. This is the currency of the modern Leftist. They produce nothing, but their coin of the realm is a never ending list of grievances and offenses which they feel free to espouse.... endlessly. The more the average person loves something, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the 4th of July, the more you can expect some wet blanket like this to pen an article bad mouthing it. They lead a miserable life, and they like spreading around their misery.

Troy: You know, I asked him about that. He said, good manners are just a way of showing other people we have respect for them. See, I didn’t know that, I thought it was just a way of acting all superior. Oh and you know what else he told me?
Eve: What?
Troy: He thinks I’m a gentleman and you’re a lady.
Eve: [disgusted] Well, consider the source! I don’t even know what a lady is.
Troy: I know, I mean I thought a “gentleman” was somebody that owned horses. But it turns out, his short and simple definition of a lady or a gentleman is, someone who always tries to make sure the people around him or her are as comfortable as possible.
Eve: Where do you think he got all that information?
Troy: From the oddest place - his parents. I mean, I don’t think I got that memo from mine.

She mentions the Pequot War. The Pequots killed women, children, and men, mostly isolated settlers throughout southern New England. Eventually 3 colonies joined together to attack the Pequot home base in retaliation.

Today no one ever mentions the terror and death brought upon isolated settlers that led to the eventual organized military response.
