Bill Cosby Finally Speaks Out On Sexual Assault Allegations
Business Insider ^ | 11/22/2014 | ALEX DOBUZINSKIS

Comedian Bill Cosby spoke out against a wave of sexual assault allegations but told a Florida publication he does not have to "answer to innuendos."

Cosby, 77, spoke to the newspaper Florida Today on Friday, before performing his comedy routine at a theater in Melbourne, Florida.

The comedian has refused to address questions about allegations made by a number of women who said he forced himself on them sexually, with some accusing him of drugging them first.

"I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendos," Cosby told Florida Today, which serves readers in Melbourne and surrounding areas.

"People should fact-check. People shouldn't have to go through that and shouldn't answer to innuendos," Cosby told the newspaper, in a story posted on its website late on Friday.

Cosby received a standing ovation at the start of his 90-minute show in Melbourne, which concluded without incident and without the comedian discussing the allegations.

Unless there is a case that falls within the staute of limitations this is all moot criminally. However civil suits are possible so I’d be cautious about these accusations.

One thing is sure. We are never going to know the truth.

Too many women coming forward for there not to be something going on.

I have seen this cited as the "pernicious maxim", that "where much is alleged, something must be true". Forget where that was, but it's a thought.

“Innuendo - an indirect intimation about a person or thing, especially of a disparaging or a derogatory nature.”

I don’t think the women accusing him of rape or sexual assault are innuendos.

None of these women report willing sex or even sex with cosby. No affairs, no one night stands. EACH OF THEM REPORTS ASSAULTS and nearly all report being drugged first. Your post is misguided. This isn’t a political issue; this is a beloved American icon not being a normal decent person at all — he is found out to be a sick monster. This wasn’t the Democrats’ doing. This was a story that really bleeds, so it really leads. This much smoke, they would have had to report it even if the perp were Jon Stewart.

So what if these alleged attacks took place years and years and years ago. Why you’d think they happened just yesterday what with all the tizzy now about them. Geez. Time to let it go as the statute of limitations is long gone. The women should have brought it up and taken it to court way back when. Makes for nice splashy headlines now, but at age 77, I doubt Cosby can even get it up anymore without a hefty dose of Viagra.

Well, thee whole thing is very unsettling....then when you hear the same allegations from several women, saying that he slipped something in their drink. A blue pill.

It sounds like Rohypnol or Roofies.

This is disturbing because now we have a pattern. Then there’s this. A 1969 comedy album where Cosby actually talks about slipping a Spanish FLy to a woman.

http://paulharrisonline.blogspot.com/2014/11/about-bill-cosby.html

Cosby, obviously doesn’t know about Twitter. Because he asked people to Meme Him on his twitter account. That’s what started the whole thing. Then this comic picks up on it.

In short, he kinda like did this himself or was this recommended by his media consultant?

Woody Allen had an affair or encounter. I don’t recall a series of encounters, or that he drugged anyone.

“Now, my journalism training tells me that when a lot of people independent of each other tell you essentially the same story, there is most likely something there. However, none of them has produced corroboration other than their own word.”

The important thing to remember is that these are *not* independent allegations. They only came forward *after* the media storm happened.

The story that they are telling is the same one that people have read.

Does it mean that Cosby slept around a lot? Most likely. There are a lot of women who want to sleep with celebrities.

“Where are the Father’s of these girls/women?”

Probably nowhere to be found! And for that matter, where were “the Bill’s fathers?” We know that Clinton didn’t really have one. Maybe it’s the same for Cosby. Anyway, with this latest revelation of his “fixer,” Cosby is finished and may well loose a lot of his money to lawsuits.

The civil case that was settled in 2006 for alleged abuse that occurred in 2004 had 12 corroborating witnesses with similar drugging/sexual assault stories. I have no idea how they found these women, but there were at least 13 willing to swear to it in 2006. Maybe there was some Temple connection so they were easier to call up and ask?

“The federal judge presiding over the case earlier denied Cosby’s request for a gag order and the plaintiff’s request to shield the names of a dozen other women who say Cosby assaulted them.

The plaintiff, a native of Ontario, Canada, who is in her 30s, previously worked at Temple University in Philadelphia, which touts Cosby as one of its most famous alumni. She is identified in court documents, but The Associated Press does not publish names of alleged sexual assault victims without their consent.

The woman, who called Cosby a friend and mentor, went to police about a year after the encounter, but Montgomery County prosecutors declined to file criminal charges.”

Of course settling doesn’t necessarily mean guilt, but holy cow 12 women who all say the same thing about him in court?

Freegards

Yeah, each reported assaults - under the conditions I described. Which are the conditions they described.

Every criminal in prison will tell you they didn’t do it, too.

Believe what you want, but I think their stories are simply unbelievable. They are not admitting the obvious - they were offering Cosby sex for help getting acting work.

So if they want to successfully slander him, they sure can’t admit it now. But what else does an aspiring actress have to offer a successful male star that has to be given in private meetings that they seek out, that they believe will inspire that star to help their career?

LOL, time to grow up about how the world really works.

Do the right thing Cosby. Kill yourself.

Thanks for proving this is a Democrat psyop, and that you're a shill posting after a strategy meeting.

Because given everything else in the world, and everything else regularly discussed on FR, including so many atrocities, you tell people to kill themselves all the time, right?

Because conservatives don't need laws or actual evidence or trials, they just scream for death to those targeted by Facebook level propaganda and hysteria. Right?

LOL

Remember what they did to Clarence Thomas and to Herman Cain. There is a reason why black men who depart from any portion of liberal orthodoxy (in Cosby’s case, the promotion of broken families, non-education, and helplessness) are trashed this particular way: liberals really believe in the stereotype that all black men are sexual predators, and they think everyone else does too.

Also, they regard black people as their property. Blacks who depart from left-wing orthodoxy are viewed as stolen property.

Remember how The Party of Compassion and Tolerance used to attack Cosby’s TV show precisely because it presented a successful, intact black family. They can’t have that — it might show black folks the way out of the underclass, and the “progressives” need a permanent, ever-growing underclass.

Now, my journalism training tells me that when a lot of people independent of each other tell you essentially the same story, there is most likely something there. However, none of them has produced corroboration other than their own word.

And ALL of the accusers, except for the first, know exactly what story to tell since it's been plastered all over the news.

I once knew a woman who falsely accused a person of rape. What amazed me was how many people believed her because the act was so horrible.

Lynch mobs awakened?

I don’t agree. It should be up to the accusers to prove it and until they do it should not be reported. He is not obligated to answer anything. Thinking it is weak how he has handled this shows a very misunderstanding of the basics of our system of government the same as people who thinks someone who pleads the 5th is guilty.
