One of the first shows we saw at the new Boston Tea Party (after they moved from Berkeley St. to Lansdowne, behind Fenway Park), was MOI when Zappa had Flo and Eddie with him. Great show. I marveled at the control Zappa had over the organized chaos.

For years I had a pair of the stage speakers from Berkeley St. 30" x 16" cherry boxes hand made by Henry Kloss (the K in KLH speakers) Each box had 18 3 1/2" Lashram(?) speakers in it. Went well with my MacIntosh amp.

Saw Him in Austin back in ~’76-77~? (the “foggy dayz”) at The Armadillo World Headquarters just before it was torn down to put in a F’ing bank tower.

I remember going and being there but not the ride home...

Some good times at that place.

Kinda like going to the Bars on 6th St and sitting at a table by the stage watching Stevie Ray Vaughn just before He hit it big time.

When Austin was still cool and NOT STUPID!

“Way back at GA Southern in the 80’s, our percussion section did ‘Echidna’s Arf’ as a drum feature. It might be on Youtube somewhere.”

Cool. post the link if you find!

Interesting story about Evelyn in my life -

First, my obsession with Zappa music started my sophomore year in high school when a friends older brother brought “Joe’s Garage” home. In collage, I got hold of a dozen albums. After collage I bought everything.

My wedding song was “For You” off Cruising with Ruben and the Jets. My wife is cool. Big traditional wedding too.

Anyway...

I did a 3 year expat assignment in Shanghai. We had a team building (they do this a lot) in rural China. Everyone was sitting at a sidewalk cafe and each was asked to sing a song.

My boss at the time knew some tunes from when he sang in high school choir (real “gave my love a cherry” stuff), I sang Evelyn.

Similarly, my wife sings a song to our son at bedtime. Once when she wasn’t available, he asked me to sing to him. I sang Evelyn.

I have sung Evelyn to him now for 3or4 years. When I finish “Arf - she said.” he goes quiet and I close the door.

A few months ago he started singing it with me and most recently he started singing it on his own - perfectly. As you can imagine, that brings a smile to my face, and as I’m pretty sure the number of 10 yr olds who can do that is pretty small. He’s learning Saxophone now.

I skipped work (midnight shift) once and almos lost my job to go see Zappa at Buffalo shea’s Theatre downtown. I am so glad I did.

He did two shows that night- I saw the last half of ?Do you know who you are” album.

Do you know who you are?
You are what you iz.
You ain’t what you not
And that all there is.

I have live by those words ever since

This song is just as relevant today as it was back in ‘66

Yeah, I see what you mean. I need to revisit Frank Zappa. Thanks for posting it!

Thank you for sharing that. Often times when I’m in the middle of a rough day I think of that song and the total goofiness it and it just makes me laugh. Congratulations on your 10-year-old memorizing it!
