The long-careered durable scramblers are far outnumbered by the RGs and the Vicks.
I’m a life long redskin fan. And while I like RG as a person he sucks as a ball player. I wish him the best, but until he can win against a 1-8 team (or any team) he needs to sit down.
I’m always amused when I see a statement so silly by its grandiosity, e.g. that someone I’ve never heard of before seeing this thread could have been thought to “change American governance.”
RG3 seems like a nice kid. I hope he eventually can play as a good NFL quarterback some day.

Only if you consider 3-7-1 as “not doing too badly” and being currently ranked next to bottom in the unbelievably bad NFC South Division.

They played during the time that defensive linemen looked like stick-men when compared to today’s hulks-with-speed.
I’d like to see some stats on injuries of running QB’s versus pocket QB’s. It seems to me that most injuries to BOTH types of quarterback happen when they are sacked IN THE POCKET.

unfortunately the season is over so he has a 7 game tryout and will not be benched unless he is injured...if he doesn’t turn things around he will be the next Tim Tebow out of the league (or riding someone else’s bench next year)
As soon as you trade away your future to get a player that player is doomed. It’s a 53 man roster, nobody in the league can succeed on their own, a QB needs a line to protect him, receivers to catch the ball, and a defense to make it so you don’t need 50 points to win a game. It’s amazing how regularly bad teams burn multiple picks on one player and then stay bad teams. Meanwhile the teams they traded those multiple picks to tend to stay in the hunt year after year.

No, the Christian qbs that are NFL calibre have long careers. Those that don’t announce on the SEC network.
I get where the initials derive from but calling him that makes him sound like a particular model of car or something.
There is a big difference between scrambling quarterbacks and running quarterbacks. Both Staubach and Tarkenton were pocket passers first with a magical ability to scramble and avoid the rush. The runners have plays designed for them to actually rush the ball and, to their detriment, suffer the punishment a running back does. A running qb has yet to win a super bowl.
RG3 is not really a scrambling quarterback. He's a running QB. QBs that can scramble do so out of necessity and when plays or protections break down they can use their legs to get out of trouble.
RG3 and Vick are running QBs, where they have a lot of plays designed for them to run. If you run your QB often on purpose, he will not last long. If you design passing plays or use the QBs mobility to get out of the pocket to avoid the rucking linemen, then it can prolong their careers.

The Christian QB you have in mind has a lot in common with RG3 in that both were over hyped and both are under talented.
He had well known knee issues even when he was here.
I still can't believe an NFL team took him knowing that. It is well known here that he HAD to take the offer and go to the NFL when he did or he wouldn't be able to later.
oh well, nice pay day for him :) feel sorry for whoever owns the Redskins though.
Let’s not forget Joe Kapp, Steve Young, John Elway and Randall Cunningham.
Joe Theisman won the Super Bowl and he was a punt returner earlier in his career. I would characterize that as a runner though I concede he was more a drop back scrambler won he won the Super Bowl but they still bootlegged him even at that age of his career.
