US scientists may have resolved 'Darwin's dilemma'
Fox News ^ | 11/15/2014 | By Matt Cantor

Charles Darwin worried about a possible hole in his theory of evolution, but some American scientists may just have plugged it. For about a billion years after the dawn of life on Earth, organisms didn't evolve all that much.

Then about 600 million years ago came the "Cambrian explosion." Everything changed relatively quickly, with all kinds of plants and animals emerging—which doesn't quite seem to fit with Darwin's theory of slow change, hence "Darwin's dilemma." Now, within a few days of each other, two new studies have appeared that could explain the shift, ABC News reports.

One, by scientists at Yale and the Georgia Institute of Technology, suggests that oxygen levels may have been far less plentiful in the atmosphere prior to the Cambrian explosion than experts had thought.

The air may only have been .1% oxygen, which couldn't sustain today's complex organisms, indicating a shift had to happen before the "explosion" could take place.

In a separate study, a University of Texas professor explains where that oxygen burst may have come from: a major tectonic shift. Based on geological evidence, Ian Dalziel believes what is now North America remained attached to the supercontinent Gondwanaland until the early Cambrian period, in contrast with current belief, which has the separation occurring earlier.

I remember reading where these so-called evolution scientist said proof of humans having gills was those gill like appearances on a fetus’ neck were primordial gills - when in actuality they were the ears forming.

Exactly. There’s no need to improve on perfection (LOL!).

And TWO scientists came up with this same theory at the same time so that makes it even more special!

Some idiot tried to tell me that eyes ‘evolved’ like this-
A created is malformed with a bump.
The bump casts shadows, allowing it to detect light
The bump grows into a larger protrusion, allowing it to to detect directions
The bump closes over to form a small pinhole camera
The back of the hole develops sensors to resolves the pinhole camera to images in the brain
[*** here a miracle happens*** - or somethng...]
The hole closes over and makes an eyeball.

I wrote back that this would require each child to have the exact same ‘bump’ and each child after that...
And the likely result of a ‘pinhole camera’ hole in a skin was accumulation of dirt and an infection...

At least, we should speak the same language before ridiculing scientific word usage:

“Science uses specialized terms that have different meanings than everyday usage. These definitions correspond to the way scientists typically use these terms in the context of their work. Note, especially, that the meaning of “theory” in science is different than the meaning of “theory” in everyday conversation.
Fact: In science, an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as “true.” Truth in science, however, is never final and what is accepted as a fact today may be modified or even discarded tomorrow.
Hypothesis: A tentative statement about the natural world leading to deductions that can be tested. If the deductions are verified, the hypothesis is provisionally corroborated. If the deductions are incorrect, the original hypothesis is proved false and must be abandoned or modified. Hypotheses can be used to build more complex inferences and explanations.
Law: A descriptive generalization about how some aspect of the natural world behaves under stated circumstances.
Theory: In science, a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses.

I’d say the biggest hole(s) to resolve are (1) How did life first originate? (and don’t give me that primordial soup without some hard facts) (2) How does evolution work to give us eyes and hands that work just where we need them? (3) How does the genetic material from a one-celled organism enlarge itself to EVER become an elephant/human?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I’ll give you the Darwinist answers in understandable form:

1) We have no earthly idea
2) We have no earthly idea
3) We have no earthly idea

The explosion occurred when nearly all life forms became morphologically symmetric. It was a huge advantage for long-distance motility, hunting for food, sexual reproduction, survival even with loss of body parts, etc. It was also a huge genetic advantage to encode both sides of a bilateral body with a single set of genes. I’m unsure why this is surprising or controversial.

At a meeting of the Geological Society of America held last Fall in Phoenix, Robert Brenner of Yale University and Gary Landis of the U. S. Geological Survey reported the results of a QMS analysis of ancient air bubbles trapped in amber. They obtained a remarkable result. The atmosphere of the Earth 80 million years ago was discovered to have 50% more oxygen than modern air. Brenner and Landis found that for all gas samples taken from amber 80 million years old the oxygen content ranged between 25% to 35% and averaged about 30% oxygen. Cretaceous air was supercharged with oxygen. [Dinosaur Breath - Cretaceous Atmosphere Sample obtained and Studied]
Thanks SeekAndFind. See the oxygen keyword.

I believe that a lot of the controversy about evolution has to do with Man’s inherent inability to grasp the concept of large numbers (not the EXPRESSION of large numbers, but the concept). Supposedly, the human mind can’t really discern more than about 100 items as a group- anything past that is “a lot” or “many”. So, how do you grasp 10,000? A million? A billion? A LOT of things can happen in a billion years.

This problem of grasping the concept of large numbers extends to other areas like the budget deficit.

The thing is this... were you taught there even WAS a Darwin dilemma?.. No your taught Darwinian evolution is a proven fact.. and most people regurgitate that

So for the average person if you did bother to think and saw holes in Darwin theroy.. if you dare question you're very likely to be denounced as unscientific when in fact you're being very scientific...

an ultimate that's the danger in our society right now you can't question certain things that truly need to be questioned without being denounced

one can question Darwin ..it is legitimate to do so ...it is not a proven fact... it is a theory. to say otherwise is to closed minds and enforce ignorance..and people that enforces a "science/political" dogma are the worst offenders

How is that ?... the first point of the article is the theory of evolution has some holes.. are you disputing the articles point?..

So I guess in your world (which can grasp large numbers) that bullfrogs actually have wings?
