Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Wayne Ellington has been granted an indefinite leave of absence Tuesday following the murder of his father Sunday night in Philadelphia.
My family and I are devastated by the news of my fathers murder on Sunday night in Philadelphia, Ellington said in a statement. We appreciate everyones support and ask that you respect the privacy of our family during this very difficult time.
Ellingtons father, 57-year-old Wayne Ellington Sr., was apparently shot while sitting in his car Sunday night by an unknown gunman and he died later at a hospital, according to TMZ.com.
Our players are upset for their friend and teammate. Additionally, ownership and all Lakers employees are also saddened by this tragedy, Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. Those of us who work with and have gotten to know Wayne have come to know what a wonderful and caring person he is. Our hearts go out to Wayne and his family, as do our thoughts and prayers.
Unknown by whom?
I suspect there is more to this than is apparent from this brief article.
Super high crime area of Philly. Drugs, prostitutes, gangs. It is where that woman was abducted right off the street a few weeks ago. It’s like so many other ethnic Catholic neighborhoods in northern cities that were seized upon and busted up by the Jews during the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
Downtown Philadelphia is not like it used to be. You are not going to have Rocky Balboa prancing through the streets in his sweats, bounding up steps and dancing about the balconies of various city buildings. No! Instead, Rocky will get shot or stabbed.
RIP.
Why doesn’t the black community raise Cain about events like this, instead of things like the police shooting an apparent thug in Ferguson?
Jewish "blockbusters"?
That's a new one!
yup.blocks, decency, the natural moral, social, political order of the world.
Adolf...is that you?
