Deion Sanders on Michael Sam: Gay ‘Could Be’ a Choice – ‘The God I Know Don’t Make Mistakes’

When questioned about openly homosexual football player Michael Sam, Pro Football Hall of Famer and CBS Sports analyst Deion Sanders said that gay “could be” a choice and added that, “The God I know don’t make mistakes.”

In a Nov. 7 interview preview on ORA.tv, an online program, host Larry King asked Sanders what he thought about Michael Sam, who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams and later released, and then picked for the Dallas Cowboys practice squad and not long thereafter also released.

Sanders, who is also a commentator for the NFL Network, said, “You know what, I reached out to Michael Sam because I have a cousin who’s gay – he’s gay ever since we were kids – and, I’m not saying I condone it but I don’t condemn it. I don’t love what he do but I love him as a man. And I just wanted him [Michael Sam] to understand the burden and the weight that he’s carrying.”

Larry King then said, “You don’t think it’s a choice, though, do you?”

Sanders, nodding his head, said, “It could be.”

King then said, “I don’t know why, who would choose it?”

“Who wouldn’t?” said Sanders, and then added, “Well, we would get into God did this and God did that. The God I know don’t make mistakes.”

Kind of like not having sex before marriage is a choice. It’s funny how silly that idea is to so many of the same people.

No, God doesn’t make mistakes, but He also, in His supreme love and wisdom, gives us challenges to overcome and personal crosses to bear. He also gives us the freedom to choose how we deal with them or succumb to them. One man’s blindness is another man’s club foot, is another man’s alcoholism, is another man’s homosexuality. None of those are mistakes. They are opportunities to grow in the direction God wishes us to grow, or to stagnate in self-pity or self-indulgence.

Deion is pretty much a thug who does more harm than good. No one with a brain really cares much what he thinks or says about anything.

If Deion were a white guy like ex-Fox sportscaster Craig James, his career would be dead. James took the traditional pro-family position and the secular Fox management fired him.

I wouldn’t describe him as a thug.

Maybe not in the physical sense. But to use young (mostly black) athletes the way he did/does for personal gain/acclaim with no regard for their development outside of sports says a lot about him. I have zero respect for him.

“King then said, “I don’t know why, who would choose it?””

King actually thinks he’s defending them rather than expressing disgust.

Know it alls like Larry King try to stifle debate with “But you don’t think it could be a choice do you???”

How about actually think rather than demand thought control?

Our president and his justice department have a strong emotional bond with the Muslim community.

Maybe the LGBT lobby groups should take their argument for changing the definition of marriage to their local Mosques and ask the Imums to come out in support of them.

Larry King???

What did he do? Time travel from the 80s just to ask that question?

King then said, “I don’t know why, who would choose it?”

What's THAT supposed to mean, Larry?

Please. Take as long as you need to answer.

I was wondering the same thing. The LGBT crowd could take offence to that.
