This map, which originated with National Journal, has been making the rounds on Twitter. It it similar to the one that was popular a few years ago that showed the United States as red or blue, by county. But this map shows the Congressional districts based on the just-completed election:

From those wonderful people who gave you Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, Garrison Keilor, and Al Franken.

If Minnesota were a city it would be called Seattle.

I believe that when Pres. Reagan ran for his second term, not only did he sweet the entire US, he only missed MN by 3,000 votes.

A HUGE amount of votes from Pima County (provisional) remain uncounted. McSally is ahead by over one thousand votes and only lost in Communist-dominated Pima County by 4 thousand or so. Like the Giffords/Kelly race (2010 IIRC), ballots were found in the trunk of a car. (amazing, these propelled Gabby Giffords)

Sometimes I wonder if Red China would be doing America a favor — if it were to nuke our ten largest cities.

This is the map of 2008

Thanks, Windflier

And my comments from a previous post comparing the two electoriates:

“You can see how CA has become more red inland and towards the coasts. This is encouraging for those Freepers who worry their votes are for naught. The tide is in your favor for 2016.

The upper midwest is filling out red too, except for MN and parts of Iowa and IL, but both have repub governors now, according to Iowa’s map, only one district remained blue and and according to AP’s map, Rauner won all districts. Check out how MI and Wi are turning a lovely shade of red.

New Mexico is voting less Dem and Nevada seems to be a Republican stronghold now. Colorado seems to have their liberals under control in Denver, and although NC seems to have contained their liberal carpetbaggers to their industrial triangle, SC still has lefty sprawl.

Congrats to Perdue who won big in GA, but the dems look to be on the move in his state.

West Texas is turning solidly deep red and the norther Western states are turning completely to the right.

However, my home state is faltering, especially in the southern parts that are staying stubbornly blue or trending away from the right, which infuriates me because we do have a lot of conservatives, but we also have problems with the border, lame candidates, and really ridiculous gerrymandering concocted with out side of the legislature that though they dominated, wanted to be “fair.”

Okay, that’s kind of confusing, but doesn’t that indicate a McSally victory.

She’s 1293 votes ahead.

How many provisionals are out? And around the country, were the provisional votes better for Reps or Dems?

I’m from MN (about 45 years ago) and still have relatives there. My observation is that in Minnesota culture NOTHING trumps politeness, and the GOP recognizes that and is stupidly polite. The Communists are not polite, and the electorate goes along with their misanthropy because to confront them would be “impolite.” In short, the place is cultural the aggregate representation of cognitive dissonance, probably due to the long history of Scandanavian communitarian/collectivist culture and communist politics. It’s the same reason sharia will be in places like Minnesota first, because the electorate is too polite to identify the barbarians for who and what they are, and as such won’t do anything to stop it.

This is the number of Registered voters from the Sec of State.(I left out the smaller parties)

Congressional District 2
Cochise County (Dems) 18,784 (Rep) 25,463 (Ind) 23,923
Pima 106,024 102,898 102,050

The number of ballots still outstanding vary by media account. Mail in ballots need signatures verified and the provisionals (questionable registration/name/residence)

From AZ Republic
Republican Martha McSally held a slim lead — 1,300 votes as of 6:15 p.m. Wednesday — over incumbent Democratic Rep. Ron Barber in the race for the southern Arizona district. Meanwhile, more than 3,200 ballots had to be tallied in Cochise County and nearly 47,000 in Pima County.

The votes that have yet to be counted are early and provisional ballots.

Pima County elections officials said 36,728 early ballots and 10,131 provisional ballots remained to be counted there.

Cochise County estimated it still had to tally 2,081 early ballots dropped off at polling places, and 1,141 provisional ballots. Because of technical problems Tuesday night, early ballots were sent to Graham County to be counted, said interim election director Jim Vlahovich.

Answer, who knows? Cochise verified their early ballot count today reportedly.

Aren’t military votes counted as provisional? She would definitely have a higher margin there than she would generally.

Tucson news has this: (posted today)

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - There is no clear-cut winner in the race for Congressional District Two, despite the 100 percent of precincts reporting’ there are still ballots left to be counted.

The 100 percent only counts for voters who went to their polling places on election day and physically voted; this 100 percent does not take into account those who filled out provisional ballots, or dropped an early mail-in ballot to a polling place.

So what does this mean? Neither incumbent Barber or challenger McSally can be called the winner, as election workers in Pima County are still counting ballots. Right now they have roughly 20,000 or so mail-in ballots and roughly 10,000 provisional ballots left to verify.

Cochise County election workers are also still counting.

Since the race between Barber and McSally is so close, it is going to take more than 100 percent of the precincts reporting to figure out the winner. That is why waiting to get the ballots counted is crucial and it could take a few days before it is known for sure who will run Congressional District Two.

KVOA says 50 thousand. (posted 20 hours ago)
UPDATE: 50,000 ballots left to count, McSally leads Barber by 1,293 votes

TUCSON- The Arizona secretary of state says there now 3,222 early and provisional ballots left to be counted in Cochise County, bringing the total number of ballots left to count in Cochise and Pima Counties to 50,081.

Republican Martha McSally leads Congressman Ron Barber by 1,293 votes with all 194 precincts reporting. The current ballot total has McSally with 94,103 votes and Barber with 92,810 votes
