The young lady serving him seems to be enjoying it.

Some women might not smile, but I will say this. I watched it all the way through and the man did not cuss or berate the recipient. If he did anything, he thanked his new girlfriend for putting up with it.

Exuberant and happy. I would be too.

For some reason, I thought alimony was a lifetime sentence?

Well, sure, now that he'll have money, he'd make a good husband.

And an even better ex-husband.

Or, he may have learned from the experience, and not marry again.

Every settlement is different.

The only thing better is a "negative" DNA test.

I don’t understand the concept of modern alimony. In this day and age why does a woman deserve to be “kept” Women are 100% equal.
Go get a job sweetheart.

This guy better be careful. He may get penalized for excessive celebration, just like Antonio Brown did when the Steelers played the Bucs. (one of the dumbest rules in the NFL, BTW)

You're right...feminists don't say squat about alimony. They all think it's an entitlement.

A few years ago, my wife and I had a nasty argument, and she mentioned the "d" word. I calmly replied, I'm not going to force you to stay if that's the way you feel. However, I will get half of your pension.

Texas is a community property state. While she was working for the feds, I was job-hopping for better opportunities, and thus little in the way of 401K/pension.

The "d" word hasn't been spoken since. I shrugged it off, you're bound to have a healthy disagreement when you've been married/together for over 30 years.

In fairness, some women do forego a career to make a home and raise a family. I know one couple where the husband dumped her for a much younger woman after 20+ years of marriage. She was pleasant and at least as attractive as his new wife and a good mother. She was humiliated and went back to Kansas. I hope things worked out for her. And I hope he rots in Hell.

I worked with a much older guy, I was 25, he was approaching 70, in a law enforcement job where the mandatory retirement age was 55. He was physically decrepit but had a sound mind and was an excellent investigator so he was able to get the necessary yearly extensions, they would not give him a gun though. Anyway, I asked a good friend of his why was he still working. His friend laughed and said his divorce agreement stipulated his wife was entitled to 50% of his retirement: “He swore she would never see a dime because he was not going to retire”. So, even though he was maxed out on what he would receive, he died while still employed some years later. I suspect they had an unfriendly divorce!

From the wording of the article it sounds like they had a cash settlement.

Look at this one, look at that one
Tell me do they look like me
All my friends said, don’t you worry
Said they’ll testify for me
Well, I wonder which of my friends had it in for me
Alimony, alimony, alimony is killing me
I don’t want six extra children
When ain’t but two that look like me
Please, have mercy, judge your honor
Alimony is killing me

Please, have mercy, judge your honor
I’m as poor as I can be
Ain’t had money in my pockets
Since way back in fifty three
Can’t you cut down all my payment ?
Alimony is killing me
Alimony, alimony, alimony is killing me
Alimony, alimony, alimony is killing me

Depends on the situation - most will stop if the woman remarries. If it's a case of a portion of one's retirement (especially military as my ex gets a portion as long as one of us doesn't die), then it usually also grants the guy a similar portion of the woman's retirement - generally not a good offset in cases where the woman opts to take "her cut".
