Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2014 fourth quarter ended September 27, 2014. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $42.1 billion and quarterly net profit of $8.5 billion, or $1.42 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $37.5 billion and net profit of $7.5 billion, or $1.18 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 38 percent compared to 37 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Thomson Reuters‘ analysts consensus called for Apple to report net income of $1.31 per share on revenue of $39.84 billion.

Apple Unit Sales Q414:

“Our fiscal 2014 was one for the record books, including the biggest iPhone launch ever with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “With amazing innovations in our new iPhones, iPads and Macs, as well as iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, we are heading into the holidays with Apple’s strongest product lineup ever. We are also incredibly excited about Apple Watch and other great products and services in the pipeline for 2015.”

“Our strong business performance drove EPS growth of 20 percent and a record $13.3 billion in cash flow from operations in the September quarter,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO. “We continued to execute aggressively against our capital return program, spending over $20 billion in the quarter and bringing cumulative returns to $94 billion.”

Apple’s board of directors has declared a cash dividend of $.47 per share of the Company’s common stock. The dividend is payable on November 13, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 10, 2014.

Apple is providing the following guidance for its fiscal 2015 first quarter:

Up 1% afterhours doesn’t seem all that overwhelming.. Street must not have been totally bulldozed.

The prime lenders must have really had their feet held to the fire on this one. I can hear it now:

"We have to save Obama and the Democrat Party. Pour more money into Apple!"

Don’t need to put government money into Apple; Apple would be pleased as punch - at least, I as a tiny shareholder would be - if the government simply made dividends deductible from the corporate income tax. Let the government be satisfied with the shareholders' paying tax on the dividends, and Apple will pay the dividends.

Win-win.

In Before The Apple Haters

Well, almost ;-)

If I didn't know better, Swordmaker, I'd almost think you were baiting them, LOL.

Great news -- at least one American technology company is kicking major ass still. Microsoft's in trouble... IBM just went over the edge...

Nah, it's no good. I tried out some of that Aitch-To-Owe stuff once. It's got too much of a tasteless taste.

It is the morning of the 21st here. Still waiting on another ios for my IPhone 5. The 6 is not available yet, but when it is, I might just stroll down to Shu Mart and get one. If you see my son in Sacramento, say hi for me

:-)

Wall Street has been irrational about Apple for years. Last year, Apple posted the best quarter of any corporation i the history of the stock market, blew away all analysts projections by wide margins, and reported record sales. . . but did not meet one small metric of ONE analyst outlier whose projections were outrageously ridiculous. . . and the stock price dropped 5%!!!

Here, Apple has exceeded all Wall Street punditry again, selling more than a million more Macs and 4.6 million more iPhones than they did same quarter a year ago, and the stock is up only 1.5% in after-hours trading. The market is probably fixated on the 900,000 fewer iPads sold YOY. . . although that was expected as people were waiting a refresh that happened last week with the release of iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

The prime lenders must have really had their feet held to the fire on this one. I can hear it now:

"We have to save Obama and the Democrat Party. Pour more money into Apple!"

How does that help Obama and Democrats? Apple Inc, as a corporation, doesn't do much in the way of political donations. In fact, they don't have much of a lobbying presence in Wahington. Political donations come from the Apple Employees' Political Action Committee. Their last report showed they split their donations about 75% to Democrats and 25% to Republicans. If you want to give money to Obama, the Democrats, and Liberal causes, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and a host of others give far more than Apple ever has. Bill Gates and Steve Balmer just donated a milliont to anti-gun groups. . . which Apple has never done. Apple corporate giving has been primarily in the area of charity and education. . . not political.

Although Steve Jobs was Liberal, in the early 2000s, he was once asked in an email why Apple Corporation did not make political donations to Democrat politicians. His reply was terse, as were most of his emails replies: "Half of our customers are Republicans." Steve Jobs himself made only small political donations, totaling less than $100,000 over ten years, between donations to the Democrat Central Committee and some local and a few National candidates. After he married Laurene Powell Jobs, donations increased through her. . . But still not nearly as much as other billionaires. As for "prime lenders" saving anyone and pumping money into Apple, Apple Inc, has $165.4 BILLION of cash and short term liquid assets on hand. That's after buying back $85 BILLION of their own stock. They did that with their profits. There is a reason why Apple is the most valuable publicly traded company on Earth. . . and it's NOT because the "prime lenders" are pumping money into it to save Obama and the Democrats.
