The lawsuits surrounding Risperdal allege inappropriate marketing as well as failure to warn issues. While Johnson & Johnson alleges Risperdal helps countless people throughout the world who suffer from debilitating mental illnesses, it also has caused embarrassing side effects further contributing to the problems it claims to address. In September of 2012, Johnson & Johnson settled one such lawsuit with a 21 year old who had taken Risperdal and grown breasts which had to be surgically removed. The settlement was allegedly agreed to by Johnson & Johnson in order to avoid having the Judge in the trial order Chief Executive Officer Alex Gorsky to testify. According to court filings, Gorsky was using the increases in Risperdal sales on his resume’. The plaintiff sought to secure testimony regarding Gorsky’s role in getting psychiatrists to promote Risperdal for uses not approved by the FDA.

They can’t force anyone to take anything. The parents have to sign off on it. Unfortunately, parents sometimes don’t know their rights.
A lot of parents don’t know much about their kids prescribed drugs either. A lot of them don’t bother checking around beyond the word of a doctor, and then there’s the whole spectrum from the anti-vaccine hysteria to the I think I can fix my kid with vitamins hysteria.
Men who do much and constant weight lifting often get what THEY call “bitches tits.” Lol.
No they do not! It is not from the weights, it is from the drugs to make them stronger, so they can get bigger and it happens when they stop lifting.
If the kids are minors then the parents should know since they have to sign off and pay for them.
ITA about the hysteria with a small percentage. Really, there’s no reason for parents not knowing what drugs their kids are taking since they have to sign off on them. Stupid parents are just that...stupid. They are to blame not anyone else. imo.
A lot of parents are bullied by the schools who give very real threats to call CPS if the kids are not put on these drugs. Did you not know it’s “child abuse” not to put kids on these drugs?
and yes CPS will take your kids and put them on what every they want to. Just ask Justina Pelliter’s parents.
Oh please. Any parent with an IQ of 100 doesn’t fall for that bullshit. It’s not child abuse, nor could one be charged with Child Abuse for refusing to put their child on a drug.
No they won’t nor can they with parents who are smart. It happens to parents who aren’t aware of the laws. Or don’t have a decent lawyer. Or are abusing their kids in some way.
I’m more than aware of what CPS is capable of doing with parents who are stupid.
The last thing we want is more nanny statism which is what many so called conservatives want when it comes to our laws. IMO. Just because one, or a few parents, are too stupid to know their rights, doesn’t mean the rest of us should suffer by losing those rights.

These drugs suppress dopamine, and increase prolactin levels.
I don’t understand why someone would put a child on these drugs long-term. The prolactin side effects are the least of the negative effects.
A recent study showed that long-term use of benzodiazapines (e.g. Valium) results in greater risk of Alzheimer’s type dementia.
Once again, a potentially beneficial therapy for acute use is found to have negative effects when used long-term.
Yea they’ll sue the hell out of the drug companies but the educators that pushed these drugs will skate.

What about those who can’t afford a lawyer?
That is why you don’t send your kid to public schools in the first place. You don’t have these child molesting teachers trying to tell you what to do. Instead you have your kid at home, teaching them and not drugging them to death.

I can guarantee you none of my four kids who went to Catholic k-8 and public high school would ever have this happen. No one had control of my kids but my husband and me.
This stupid crap is why we can’t win. Stupid people.
I’ve won every fight I had with our public high school (oooh maybe because I ain’t a moron?) and our Catholic grade school, haha. And maybe because my kids aren’t morons? See how that works?
Oooh can’t afford a lawyer? Is that like not being able to afford medical care? Last I checked, pro bono and the State providing one with an attorney if the person couldn’t afford it...same as medical care before Obamacare...
Funny how millions of us were able to not only get through catholic and public school but actually have kids who succeeded and went onto college with academic and athletic scholarships. Oh that’s right, we can’t talk about the good things. Haha.
That’s because they’re Union. The worst thing that happened to education in this country is the control the Union has over it. Want to fix our education system then get rid of the union.
Oh and the liberal, communist stronghold. This institution is 100% controlled by the liberal democrats. We allowed this to happen. The liberal/communist agenda is being taught to our kids.
For those who think because they homeschool they aren’t affected by this...newsflash...the SAT has been changed to reflect Common Core. College Curriculum has been changed.
I recently took the middle and high school math praxis tests for math certification and guess what? It’s been changed/revised to reflect common core...My youngest daughter took the PSAT (again, as a junior since it’s a part of the curriculum now in our state) and it’s all about the common core.
My other daughter, now a freshman in college at a University, is taking classes that align with the Common Core.
Anyone who is against this sure hasn’t been fighting it or succeeding in the fight. Our education system from K through college is fully enmeshed in the liberal, communist agenda. We, as parents, can fight it all we want but unless we change it, it means nothing.
Risperdal saved my son’s life. He is diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. He has not had any such side effects.
