Emergent is a website which tracks emerging rumors, aggregates them, and evaluates their accuracy. Looks interesting.

TOPICS: Miscellaneous; Reference

A problem with keeping on top of emerging news/rumors/topics is you don’t know what’s trending until you see it appearing on numerous sites - and there’s far more sites to keep up with than you can keep up with. I come to FR and Drudge primarily to see what other people find notable and gather into a one-page summary list ... but that relies on people choosing to report it.

Emergent.info is interesting because it automatically watches many sites, identifying emerging topics AND evaluating as uncertain/proven/disproven, displaying the summary & conclusion in a very terse form.

Example: top one now is
CONFIRMED FALSE
Claim: Fort Carson is locked down because of a missing nuclear weapon
Originated: October 13th 2014
...well, I hadn’t even known that was a topic, nice to know it’s both trending and false before I encounter discussion of it elsewhere.

It does what numerous other “news aggregator” sites do, but without the weird biases (Drudge tends toward pet outrages), messy formats (Google News kinda splatters a topic), and mobs (FR can get kinda overwhelmed with won’t-die petty arguments).

I hear ya. Hope it’s not “Snopes” like either. A real unbiased site would be a good thing. The lefties have too much influence in many of these things.

My guess is it’s a redo of Snopes since Snopes has lost some creditability on issues concerning the left narrative.

So, as usual for the left, just do it again but under a different name.

My basis:

Confirmed False.
The reasoning given? Because Obama said so.

Now, it may be that the claim is false, but I do put the reasoning behind that site calling it so to be nothing more than vomiting up DNC talking points as gospel.

Ummm I looked at the site and am not impressed overall. They don’t show how they determine whether something is true or false (and indeed they just state it as if that’s true). Then it has votes that people make on it.

May well be another Snopes in the making which means anti-conservative in all its glory
