Maryland Seeks Power to Double Tax Income
American Legislator ^ | 10-13-14 | Ted Lafferty

Posted on 10/13/2014 2:24:17 PM PDT by ThethoughtsofGreg

While it may seem unfair to pay income taxes twice, Maryland residents have been doing so for years. That’s because unlike most other states, Maryland’s tax code does not provide a full tax credit for taxes paid to other states. This means anyone in Maryland who earns money in another state will pay that state’s income taxes, only to have Maryland levee county-level income taxes, without credit or deduction, on the same income. The result is that Maryland residents are unfairly double-taxed on income they earn out-of-state.

Fortunately, one couple in Maryland has had enough. The Wynnes, part owners of a healthcare company that operates in multiple states, are challenging the constitutionality of Maryland’s double taxation policy. The case, Comptroller v. Wynne, is set to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court later this year and could have a big impact on state tax policies.

Can’t a person split their income in accordance to the proportion earned in that state?

Not the only one. Ohio did something similar to me the year I moved out.

The only way the citizens of Maryland fight this, is for all these people that have this problem leave the state. Yep, once the state of Maryland figures out that they are driving taxpayers out of their states, eventually, they will have a change of mind.

They chose to live there and support the system.

Actions have consequences.

“This means anyone in Maryland who earns money in another state will pay that state’s income taxes”

New to me. Didn’t happen to me in ‘94, anyway.

Just as they’ve driven out 90% of their businesses, especially big business. Yeah, that worked.

The problem is that these liberal bass turds take their voting and cultural habits with them wherever they go, without realizing why they left their hell holes to begin with.

See Colorado for a prime example.

Oh please. Maryland is really a great place to live. The public Schools are number one in the country. The income is higher than most in the country. We have a lot of rich in the state. And the rift raft that other states have, we don’t. We have basically one poor area and that is Baltimore City. The rest of the state is wealthy communities. I know because I live in Arnold Maryland. Not many places better in the country.

Well thank God you will take all the money you earned and go to a state that you will be a millionaire. Maryland has been extremely good to you. Don’t forget to thank the state before you leave.

A great place to live if you like high taxes, one party government, pollution, tons of traffic and substandard roads, and a higher incidence of cancer than almost anywhere else in the USA. Yea, great.

Arnold is just another of the uninspiring and bland areas in the horribly overdeveloped Anne Arundel County (part of central MD - the worst part of the state). Enjoy your hell hole.
