Inventing a GMO Apple That Won’t Brown Arctic Apple, a Genetically Modified Breed, Seeks U.S. Approval By TENNILLE TRACY Two sliced apples sit on either side of a clock as a time-lapse video compresses 24 hours into 30 seconds. By the end, the apple on the left has turned brown but the one on the right has stayed fresh and white.

True.
But ascorbic acid powder is cheap. I get 8oz bottles for like 7 bucks, store in freezer and they last forever. I use a tsp of that in a bowl of water for a dip before I put stuff on the dehydrator. And we dehydrate a bunch of stuff. The kids love dehydrated pineapple chunks and bananas.
I can’t imagine GMO apples would be cheaper than that.

You can have all the pretty apple slices. I’ll stick with the brown ones.

Hows the flavor? I am getting sick of all the fresh fruits and veggies in the supermarket that have almost no flavor...Yep - many don't realize what a real tomato tastes like. Fruits and vegetables lost a lot as they went about making seasonal foods available pretty much year-round. I miss the '50s and '60s.
