Michigan toddler dies from enterovirus D68
DETROIT -
A 21-month-old girl is the first person in Michigan to die from the virus that has caused severe respiratory illness across the country, state health officials said Saturday.
Madeline Reid died Friday afternoon from enterovirus D68, according to Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Its chief medical officer, Dr. Rudolph Valentini, said in a statement that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the illness after the Clinton Township girl's arrival, but did not specify which day she arrived.

Someone asked me for my thoughts on this disease some time ago, and I remember saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if it causes deaths. Now, sadly, several children have died.
It takes at least 10 years to develop and approve a vaccine. Until then—well, teach your kids good hygiene, because that is the only thing that will protect them.

This disease is known to occur in Nicaragua and El Salvador..the kids are probably so used to being around it they don’t really suffer any long term side effects from it, they just pass it around for everyone else to get
I am glad we are finally getting killing frosts.
That’s one nice thing about the cold. It tends to keep the nasty viruses at bay for part of the year.
Its why I’ve always understood that you shouldn’t eat rabbits hunted before a good hard freeze. The cold weather kills the rabbits with lots of nasty parasites and diseases.
I would use any money collected for the foundation as a bounty on pro-amnesty politicians.
Considering that enterovirus 68d is known colloquially as “Honduran Flu” in Central America, it all makes for strong evidence this current wave came in with the illegals.

And home school them while you are teaching the children good hygiene.
Seal the border. Don't let anyone in with a communicable disease.
If they are sick, send them home to their socialist utopias.
Once we've done that, then let's work on containing the virus.
When immigrants came through Ellis Island in 1900, they weren't allowed in the country if they had any communicable disease.
How wise the USA was in 1900, and how damn STUPID we are in 2014.
People in 1900 knew to not spread disease, even if they had no cure at the time.
Now we're looking at INCURABLE and in some cases UNIDENTIFIABLE diseases, but the government simply shares the wealth all over the place.
