I heard we got some rain at home, so I will likely be able to skip that chore when I get back. Happy Happy

We’re still awash in vegetables. Potatoes, pumpkins, zucchini, summer squash, butternut squash, watermelons, cantaloupes, onions, peppers...

It’s been a really good year here in NW Iowa. Cool, but with very timely and sufficient rains.

We are closing in on three inches of rain at lake of the Ozarks. Lake water is up suddenly. That’s OK.

I am continuing to dry and grind paprika peppers. Son and his wife have a supply, sent by mail. I’ve given away 1/2 a pound to others. More peppers still green but in range.

We have a couple dozen Roma tomatoes still coming. If we get close to a frost, I’ll pick them green. Otherwise, more pasta putaneska...

I should add, just as soon as we dry out, I have some large hardneck garlic cloves to plant.

Pointy side up !

I have a bunch of pimento peppers that are green. Wonder if they would be ok to eat green? I doubt they’ll mature before it gets too cold.

You have to work at it as our teachers taught us. Write or lose the ability. I noticed the other day my penmanship is a disaster. A whole different era.

I walked across the the street and into the woods about 20 feet and found these 4 Porcini (Boletes Edulus) Mushrooms and was back at the house in 15 minutes. Lady Bender coated a pork chop with mayonnaise and then into bowl of Panko crumbs and fried it. The corn and squash came from the Farmers Market yesterday. The wine is from Costco…

I cut my tomatoes back to the ground. Their stocks were quite large, so hopefully when they regrow in the spring, we’ll have early tomatoes. I’m leaving my sweet peppers in the front raised garden, and my jalapeno in it’s pot, it’s still putting out peppers. I’m getting ready to put in some carrots and see what happens, plus all sorts of Swiss chard, beets and I don’t know what else. We’ll see. I may try some potatoes ??? Have to order some garlic. I had good luck with the 4 garlic buds I planted last fall. I have some really good garlic on the counter.
We are getting some nice steady rain at this time. How are you doing in the rest of Texas?

God Bless you too Greeneyes, your weekly thread is one of my favorites! Now that I live in the City with no garden it brings me great comfort to read about how all the hands on gardeners are doing...
