I am on the hotel computer and it is not cooperating with me. Only lets me on for a small bit of time, and then it clicks off.

I was not able to get away from the conference and people today at the ususal time. It seems that no one was missing it too much though, but apologies for the lateness of the ping.

I am still in Branson. Weather has been nice till today, when we got some rain. One of the employees from our area drove in this AM, and he said they got some rain, so I know my plants will not be thirsty.

Hope you are all doing well. Have a great weekend. God Bless.

Totally not able to ping the list. This hotel computer will not let me do it. I can’t copy the names. If there is anyone out there who can go to my profile page and copy the list and ping it - please do so.

Otherwise, I’ll ping it later this weekend.

I can report here from Eastern Washington we've had a long stretch of warm days in the 70's with very little rain, but of course we did have an early frost the first few weeks of Sept so my plants got zapped...

even so, I pull a couple of small tomatoes off here and there.....pulling up other plants....

I have three large leafy brussel sprouts that I planted from seedlings with many sprouts on them but they have basically been stagnant....I'm sure I got them in the ground plenty early......so disappointing....

however, gardeners are forever the optimists so I'm cleaning my beds and look forward to next year when for sure, I will have the perfect garden.

Zone 6, lazy beginner...

Planted Australian Brown onion seeds today, about a month late for overwintering LOL! but I just had to. Maybe some will survive and give me seeds to plant next September.
Onion seeds are started inside two months before the last frost so I’ll have gardening to do in darkest winter- when I need it.
A lettuce plant was left to go to seed so I’m enjoying them now. Took no more work than scooping the seedlings up and placing them in the empty potato rows.
Still have a dozen Beefsteaks ripening on the vine. It’s near a corner of the house and is getting MORE sun now than before. Didn’t plan it that way, just lucked out.
Probably have two more harvests fron the chard coming.

The plan for this Sunday is to clean out more raised beds and get my garlic and tulip bulbs planted. I’ve been treating tulips as annuals; I have Black Walnut trees (@#$%^&*!) so I’m a-screwed at having nice bulb displays in the Spring.

SO - since I can get them for cheap, I buy colors that coordinate with my living room and kitchen and plant a ton as annuals for bouquets come spring. Then either I or the squirrels dig them up and we plant something else in that bed. Happy, Happy!

I have my cold frame set up and spinach is up, and today I moved a planter box of lettuce and a planter box of arugula in there, as well. In about 20 days, we’ll have a FEAST.

There are tomatoes in a bucket on the porch which will be made into more Salsa, and some green ones for frying. I have enjoyed my cut flowers (Zinnia, Cosmos & Sunflowers) for the past week, but we’ve had two frosts so far and another one tonight, so The Fat Lady has sung.

I had GREAT production on Butternut squash this season, and we grew a ton of Baby Blue Hubbard and Delicata squashes at the Ridgeway farm. I love Cheese Ravioli with Butternut Sauce, and I can’t tell you how WONDERFUL chunked-up Butternut is, roasted with simply olive oil, garlic, salt & pepper.

“As G-d is my Witness, I shall NEVER eat mushy Butternut Squash - AGAIN!”

We also grew Hopi Blue Indian/Dent Corn this season and had a terrific crop. I have a BEAUTIFUL bunch with a bow hanging on the back door, and the rest is drying for experimenting with flour-making. The mice got to some of it while it was drying, so I’ve moved that to Higher Ground so the little jerks can’t get at it.

I have a friend who works at a local orchard and I’m getting TWENTY POUNDS of, ‘Melrose’ apples (nice and TART!) for $7.50 next week. *SQUEAL OF A DEAL*

I’m ready for gardening to be over. For me, it’s 24/7 from March through October between work & home. I LOVE Fall, and Winter will be right behind for skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling - Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Schnaps.

Again, Happy, Happy! :)

Getting the corn picked, a feedsack full at a time.

I have about 2 hours of daylight left after work, and a lot less energy & inclination to get out and getter done, once the animals are taken care of.

Went to put some stuff out in the compost pile last night. The lid weighed a few extra pounds, probably due to the large mass hanging off the bottom that was moving and buzzing.

I’ll check with the new neighbor and see if he’s allergic, since our houses are so close. If not I suppose they’re welcome to stay.

Ping to the thread at greeneyes’ request!

By the way, greeneyes, I appreciate you adding me to the ping list. But you’ve got my screen name misspelled. ;-)

One of our dang walnut trees kinda draps down half of my raised beds. The first year they did ok, but then the attack of the roots began.

I am thinking of just using pots and buckets and sitting them on top of the raised beds next year, and If that doesn’t work, they will all be turned into compost heaps, or storage areas for bags of soil and fertilizer.

Got my fall garden in this week. Hope we get more rain so I don’t have to water so much. The plants love the cooler weather.

Yes, I know what you mean, It’s the beginning of hibernation season for me, so I want to do less and less outdoors.

Oh No. Spelling has been a problem for me lately. I used to be a really good speller, but now I am awful. I had an MRI Scan, and the doctor reported that there was nothing remarkable.

That’s what I was telling him all along. I used to have a normal brain that was quite remarkable with great memory and now it’s just not that remarkable anymore.LOL

I’ll try to remember to fix it when I get home.
