In 1969 I traveled with a group to DC. We were fortunate enough to attend a Washington Senators vs Baltimore Orioles game at RFK Stadium. I saw Boog Powell, Davey Johnson, Frank Robinson, and as a former 3rd baseman myself, my all-time favorite Brooks Robinson. It was a great day for me. The Orioles won 6-3.

I remember Ed Brinkman. He hit a very reliable .188 most years. Then there was Tim Cullen, Mike Epstein, Camalio Pasqual, Bernie Allen, Del Unser and all those other unforgettable superstars.

Nah, his experience dealing with Denny McLain sent him to a manager’s early retirement!.......

Now there ya go - Washington Senators. If any team needs to doff it’s name it’s the Washington Senators. Get rid of “Senators” - it implies politics and politics have no business in sports.

Oh yeah, Seaver, Koos, Tommie, Cleon, Bud, Nolan, Grote and the rest of the ‘69 Miracle Mets said to say hi!!! (Sorry South, I couldn’t resist! LOL!!!!) Greatest upset in W/S history! If those two teams had squared off, (somehow, fantasy or whatever), in a 162 head to head battle with both squads going full throttle each game, the Birds would have whipped ‘em 100-62. Long time admirer of Gil Hodges so I was happy for him that many moon ago Oct. of 1969.
