Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Citizens United Was The Current Supreme Court's Worst Ruling The Huffington Post | By Ashley Alman 09/28/2014

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg expressed her extreme regret over several of the current Court's rulings in a wide-ranging interview published in The New Republic Sunday evening, including their rejecting the commerce clause of President Barack Obama's health care law, and issuing a huge blow to the Voting Rights Act in their Shelby County v. Holder decision.

But the first Supreme Court ruling Ginsburg would send to the guillotine would be the Court's decision in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, giving corporations and unions the green light to give and spend unlimited sums of money on independent political activity. "If there was one decision I would overrule," Ginsburg told The New Republic, it would be Citizens United.

"I think the notion that we have all the democracy that money can buy strays so far from what our democracy is supposed to be," she said.

Right, because Roberts' Obamacare ruling wasn't bad in her eyes.

Unions get to spend as much money as they want, though, because they support Democrats.

“Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayor are nothing but plain political hacks.”

We need a list of the Republican Senators who voted to confirm them.

That’s funny as hell considering how many huge corporations are controlled by flaming liberals.

Do sitting justices often publicly criticize rulings with which they disagree?

She is right if she points out that unions, corporations, organizations, PAC's, parties etc have the advantage over the individual in terms of donation limits.

“Do sitting justices often publicly criticize rulings with which they disagree?”

I kinda think they shouldn’t be allowed to give media interviews,,, but that doesn’t square with The Constitution, unfortunately. But the interviews are unseemly.

Ginsburg is simply looking for reasons to restrain Americans' rights. Her position is basically this:

The 1st Amendment guarantees the right of assembly and the right of free speech. You may choose to exercise only one of those rights at a time.

Seriously, why can't Americans simultaneously assemble as a corporation and exercise free speech at the same time? Always support leaders that expand individual freedoms.

I noted that too.

There is this idea out there that we are a democracy.

We are not a democracy.

We are a constitutional republic.

It should shock us that a Supreme Court justice doesn’t know this. But many other politicians say the same thing.

Exactly. She needs to maintain a modicum of professionalism and shut her damn pie hole.

I know that’s a lot to ask of a barking moonbat like Ruthie.

What’s wrong with it? I mean, didn’t they publically disagree when they published their opinion on the case? I don’t see why it would even be a question.
