Unregulated genetically modified wheat... in a second location in the United States... in Montana, the Agriculture Department said Friday.
The department said it is investigating the discovery of the Montana wheat, which is a different variety than the genetically modified wheat found in Oregon.

Yeah it is. Using a gene gun just gets you where you want to go much faster, and with much greater certainty.
Also, the slow change allows the consumers of the plant to adapt as well.
It takes time for consumers to adapt to the fact that they are ingesting significantly less quantities of mycotoxins from their GM corn than they were from the non-GMO corn? I'm sure these same consumers miss having elevated levels of toxins in their drinking water from the pre-GMO glory days when farmers used more herbicides and pesticides.
I thought they only grew GMO dental floss in Montana.
Having been brought up on a ranch, living in the country and eating the paleo way is natural for me-heavy on the meat and non-starch veggie protein, no refined or processed food, and fresh fruit is the “sweets”. Those of us who have continued to eat that way are not overweight and are healthy.
My female relatives thought that stupid pyramid was a joke-and I don’t think the new govt “plate” is any better-carbs make you fat, protein builds muscle. If someone had served my male relatives one of the starchy, meatless meals on Michelle’s menu, they would have started a riot-you don’t chase after livestock fueled on potatoes, lettuce and French toast...
The only packaged thing I buy on a regular basis-besides natural yogurt-is crunchy granola bars that I carry when I hike and in my truck for my lunch, with fruit-almost every box and can label you read says either fructose this, wheat that, corn syrup-stuff that doesn’t have anything to do with a healthy diet based on “real” food.
Grains and other starch are not a big part of my diet- sometimes brown rice, and in winter, bread I make with whole grain flour from the aforementioned mill, sometimes sourdough French bread-I barter most of the bread I make for dairy stuff like goat’s milk cheese, honey etc, since I don’t keep livestock or bees yet-I hope to change that soon.
Corn tortillas were the grain of choice when I was a kid, homemade with masa from cornmeal, but I seldom eat those now-making them is not my favorite chore...
There are a couple of mills that advertise all natural, stone ground grains on the ‘net, but I don’t have any idea if it really is.
Lol - no testing? At all? How do they know that it grows?
I love it when know-nothings blunder into discussions where they parrot junk from social media.
Please tell us more about the lack of testing.
If its so safe why don’t they want to label it? Why arnt they out there testing its safety?
Indeed they are trying to hide it.
Then there are other people who understand that the labeling system is based on hazard and nutritional composition. Since there is no hazard in consuming GMO food (every single food you eat had been genetically modified), and the fact that there is no nutritional differentiation, there is absolutely no need to require any additional labeling.
You could always buy organic if spending more money for absolutely no benefit is your idea of value.
You've been eating genetically modified food your entire life. As a matter of fact, every single agricultural product available in our food supply has been genetically modified. And we are living longer, on average, than at any other time in human history.
Sounds like a well designed test to me, that has delivered results that are impossible to argue with. But here you are.....
That implies intent on the owners part. I think the property owners should treat it no differently than if the patent holder/experimenter spilled 1000 gallons of dieldrin or DDT on their property.
It is an “unauthorized release”, not only that, but of an unapproved product. As the patent holder, and as it is not approved for release, Monsanto clearly is the responsible party for the contamination and liable for full mitigation costs.

How much are developers willing to invest in technology without testing it? The regulations for food approval are similar to pharmaceuticals. But mabye you know details of how they were able to skirt those regs?

As you likely know GMO foods have been declared safe by a consensus, the same method used to declare way man-made is real a fact.
Hate to be the one to break it to you, but man-made does exist. I see a lot of things in my apartment that are man-made.
