Local host calls Derek Jeter 'a fraud' for 'Made in NY' ad

Gatorade's new Derek Jeter commercial featuring the legendary shortstop walking to work and embracing New Yorkers seems to be getting positive reviews by everyone.

Well, almost everyone. Chris Carlin, the co-host of SportsNet New York's "Loudmouths," isn't a big fan.

Carlin called Jeter a "fraud" for doing the ad, saying that it's not reflective of who he actually is. He then called the rest of us "suckers" for buying into it.

"It's that this has never been what Derek Jeter has been about," Carlin said. "He has been about the team — not me. He's never let us into his personal life, because he's always been about the team. Frankly he's being a complete fraud right now."

Actually, that commercial does capture a lot of what is Derek Jeter. In fact, if you live in New York you will see him around town. And the people who see him are in awe.

It really is a great commercial. I hope Jeter remains in the game in some capacity.

‘Carlin called Jeter a “fraud” for doing the ad...’

No doubt Jeter’s crying all the way to the bank.

I was going to mention that, too. Does the phrase “sour grapes” apply here?

Yes it does, but that’s not all. Sour grapes and also doing the dirty work for a filthy Mets ownership that would rather tear down their crosstown rivals than build up their own team which by the way they are starving out as a result of their connection with Bernie Madoff, a scheme where they actually MADE money. I don’t expect anyone to have sympathy for the Yankees or anyone on their team, but the truth is Jeter has pretty much been a Boy Scout through the years. The only media outlet with an axe to grind against him in 20 years is the one owned by the dirty owners across town who are borderline criminals. It’s not hard to figure this one out.
