Dinesh D'Souza Is Planning His Prison Memoir
The New Republic ^ | September 16, 2014 | Sam Tanenhaus

Posted on 09/16/2014 6:31:37 PM PDT by right-wing agnostic

On September 23, Dinesh D’Souza will appear before a federal judge in Manhattan to learn whether he will do jail time for violating campaign-finance law. (He pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of funneling $20,000 to a friend’s Senate campaign via straw donors.) It will be the latest turn in a remarkable life that has embodied—perhaps more than any other—the passions and commitments of the modern conservative movement.

D’Souza leapt to prominence during his student days as editor of The Dartmouth Review, then emerging as a first-read for pro-Reagan provocation. Those were heady times for the youth corps of the conservative “counter-establishment,” and no star shone more brightly than D’Souza’s. Witty, sharp-tongued, and ingratiating, he was also exotic, a Catholic raised in Mumbai. He seemed on his way to being the next William F. Buckley Jr., an against-the-grain conservative perfectly suited to his multicultural moment. Buckley himself anointed the young writer the future “President D’Souza.” He was only half joking.

D’Souza did work briefly in the Reagan administration, but politics wasn’t his métier. His talent, like Buckley’s, was for attacking the liberal jugular. Where he was once content to do battle on the intellectual circuit, however, D’Souza has increasingly sought to rally— he would say enlighten—the masses.

As I've stated before on this forum, I sincerely wish that Dinesh D’Souza is pardoned by the next Republican president. The principal reason the founding fathers ratified what became the First Amendment was to protect political speech. IMO, the biggest scandal that came out of Watergate was the campaign-finance regulations that became law as a result of that scandal. Americans should have almost unregulated political speech. Campaign-finance laws should be declared unconstitutional. I'm not for spitting hairs like Chief Justice Roberts did in his majority opinion in McCutchen v. FEC last term. (But we already knew Roberts was an America-hating leftist, didn't we?)/rwa

It’s unfortunate that this is his fate. However, he will make a lot of money on his first post-prison book.

granted it is very easy for me in my position to say so but I strongly, strongly believe that if Dinesh does actual jail time in fact it will HELP him.

Now, I don’t mean in terms of spiritual or personal development no I would never condescending to say that, but when I consider where THIS administration is headed in historical terms I think that jail time will simply make Sunday look good, and then better and better as time goes on and the full extent of Obama’s destruction on this country becomes clear to the average, non political Joe walking down Main Street.

Jail time will firm up the Dinesh’s populists chops and I think his reputation as an author, critic and film maker will be fully cemented.

the real aim of the left in all of this is simply every time they reference Dinesh they can say, “Dinesh, convicted felon and former prisoner”.

Instead they’re going to Ghandify him.

Good, good....

Bombshell Emails: White House Coordinated With Department of Labor To Hide Illegal Obama Fundraiser
The Daily Caller ^ | 9/14/14 | Patrick Howley

The Department of Labor coordinated with the White House on whether or not to release hidden portions of former Labor Secretary Hilda Solis’ schedule as Solis battled an FBI investigation into her illegal fundraising for President Obama.

New emails provided to The Daily Caller from the nonprofit legal research firm Cause of Action show the White House thanking the Department of Labor for “flagging” a public information request for “withheld” portions of Solis’ schedule. (SEE THE EMAIL CHAIN). The White House then asked for the name of the conservative group making the request — information that Labor officials were eager to give up.

As TheDC previously reported, Solis illegally fundraised for the Obama campaign and headlined a Latino-themed Obama fundraiser while on a trip in her official capacity as a Cabinet member, which is forbidden by the Hatch Act. (AUDIO: SOLIS LEAVING A PHONE MESSAGE ILLEGALLY FUNDRAISING FOR OBAMA)

A quiet, behind-the-scenes FBI investigation into Solis’ Hatch Act violation led to her resignation from the Obama administration at the beginning of his second term – and handed Solis a hefty check for legal advice from the Washington arm of the politically-connected Chicago law firm Sidley Austin. (The Daily Caller, meanwhile, is permanently banned from talking to employees at the Department of Labor — which oddly hasn’t stopped us.)

Interesting interview. The author, Sam Tanenhaus, is the author of the award winning biography of Whitaker Chambers, which every American should read.

Heaven forbid he goes to prison.

If so, maybe he’ll have for company the former felonious gov of CT there Johnny-boy Rowland.

Dinesh D’Souza has made a significant contribution to the popular understanding of Barack Obama. For too long Obama had succeeded in deceiving America about his true malevolent nature. That he succeeded in this because of the color of his skin as been known to contributors to FreeRepublic since before his inauguration. But our understanding has had no discernible impact on two national elections.

Because of the color of Dinesh D’Souza's skin he was able to take racism out of the equation on both sides while mounting a devastating criticism of Obama.

I quarrel with Dinesh D’Souza's analysis only in matters of emphasis. I believe he ignores Obama's documented commitment to communism, especially Obama's affiliation with the Saul Alinsky organization, and substitutes the anti-colonial theory. This is not terribly significant since communism embraces anti-colonialism, as did Obama's father, for example.

Both analyses get us to the same place.

In view of current events I think it is necessary as well to fully explore Obama's historic connections to Islam especially his seduction by the Muslim Brotherhood. Again, communism historically aligned itself with the world of Islam against Israel and the United States as Israel's longtime partner. Again, both analyses arrive at the same place, the difference being in emphasis and motivation. In this connection there should be a full exploration of Obama's association with Farrakhan.

okay - that’s what I thought - no difference except for Dinesh being a Repub and someone who wanted the American people to know who their PINO really is.
