New Jersey prosecutor who let Ray Rice off the hook is throwing the book at a young mother of two
Washington Examiner ^ | September 8, 2014 | Ashe Schow

Following the release of new footage that seems to show now former-Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his then-fiancée in the face, it’s important to remember that the prosecutor who let Rice off with a slap on the wrist is now trying to throw the book at a young mother of two who tried to protect herself and her family from violence.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain approved an application for admitting Rice into New Jersey’s Pre-Trial Intervention program that allowed the NFL star to avoid jail time. Instead, Rice has to undergo counseling and will be immediately incarcerated if he does something else wrong.

New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael Donio issued the final sentencing, accepting Rice into the program.

Sign Up for the Politics Today newsletter! Rice received the plum deal in part because he was a first-time offender. McClain said at the time of the sentencing that the “decision was arrived at after careful consideration of the information contained in Mr. Rice’s application in light of all of the facts gathered during the investigation.”

Was the video released Monday part of the “facts gathered”? McClain’s office wouldn’t tell the Washington Examiner.

“The office does not release details of what is, or is not, part of the investigatory record in a criminal prosecution, except in its proper venue,” said Jay McKeen, public information officer for the Atlantic County prosecutor’s office. “We are not commenting beyond what has been provided in prior media releases and the court record.”

Meanwhile, McClain is working to put 27-year-old mother of two Shaneen Allen — herself a first-time offender — into jail for at least three years, maybe even a decade.

Yes. Here is the rest of the article:

Allen didn’t punch anyone out in an elevator. She simply didn’t know that her Pennsylvania concealed-carry permit was not valid in New Jersey.

In October 2013, Allen was pulled over for a minor traffic offense. She dutifully informed the officer of her gun and presented her concealed-carry permit. She was arrested.

Allen had a gun because she had been robbed twice in 2013 and feared for her children. Following her arrest, and McClain’s insistence that she face the maximum possible penalty for her oversight, Allen reportedly lost her job.

Judge Donio is also tied to the Allen case. He accepted McClain’s decision to deny Allen entry into the same pre-trial program Rice was allowed to enter.

Donio’s office did not immediately provide a statement to the Examiner.

Wishing a triple Nifong on the prosecutor, and may the investigation reveal he bribed the Judge.

Because her gun could potentially have been used to disrupt the wealth confiscation mechanisms of the welfare state. Ray Rice’s fists could not have.

The gun control nuts that own the NJ politicians will pull all stops to go after an average person on an innocent gun issue, while they protect profit makers for their cronies who own NFL football.

I was born and raised in New Jersey and lived there the first 33 years of my life. I left in 1988, and refuse to set foot that state again because of nonsense like this. I am a Texan by choice.

NJ, you may go to Hell, for I have gone to Texas’

It is the non-reciprocal CCW case.

New Jersey rejects CCW for every private citizen but grants it for almost every retired LEO. I thought there was supposed to be equal treatment under the law.

I heard an almost thorough discussion on Armed American Radio a little while ago. Almost because when contrasting the treatment of Ray Price- essentially let off- and Sheneen Allen facing 3 1/2 years in prison by the same prosecutor they left out one observation. Both these defendants areblack. Ray price in court would have likely brought Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and the whole bullhorn and Riot crowd down on them. Miz Allen will get no support from the Professional Negroes. They are just as determined as white Liberals and KKK that no black should own a legal gun.

I have pretty much lost faith in our system of justice. Politician prosecutors are in direct opposition to everything our justice system is supposed to represent. I think Mike Nifong is the rule, NOT the exception. The only exception about Nifong was that he got caught, exposed and actually punished to a degree although I don’t think nearly severe enough. This man was willing to put young men he knew to be innocent in prison for life just to win his next election. They should lock him up and throw the key away. Now this prosecutor wants to imprison a mother of two for exercising a clearly protected constitutional right just to further his left wing socialist ideology. People like this are a disgrace and unfortunately I think the justice system is full of them as are all levels of government.

Rant off.

That would be a "Rule of Law" nation, you didn't read my tagline.
