Germany has announced the deployment of 40 military advisors to the Kurdistan Region in order to train Peshmerga forces on recently sent German weapons.

In a statement, the German Defense Ministry confirmed that the German government has sent 40 military experts and consultants to the Kurdistan Region to train Peshmerga forces in their ongoing conflict with IS insurgents.

The statement also mentions that the military advisors have extensive experience of training and exercising troops.

It continued that the German government has previously sent a wide range of military equipment to Kurdistan including helmets, night binoculars and telescopes.

The German government has sent a cache of weapons to Kurdistan which consisted of 8,000 G36 assault rifles and the same number of G3 rifles, as well as ammunition; 200 Panzerfaust 3 and 30 MILAN anti-tank systems; and five heavily armored Dingo infantry vehicles.

According to the government plan, Germany will give weapons and military equipment to the Kurdistan Region at a total cost of € 70 million [US $92] million as part of an international effort to support Kurds in their battle against Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq.

Furthermore, Berlin will give € 50 million to the Kurdistan Region in humanitarian aid.

The Kurds won’t need the German Army’s old FM on how to deal with insurgents. Maybe Japan can send help, and set up PW camps for them to hold the ISIS captives. In that case they should bring their old FM’s on the care and treatment of the PWs.

“The Kurds won’t need ... old FM’s on the care and treatment of the PWs.”

I understand what you were saying. I would hope that the Kurds can inflict mass casualties on the ISIS monsters. And I further hope they are wise enough to not KEEP ISIS prisoners. The ISIS monsters would not be prisoners of war and should not be afforded the treatment that POWs deserve.

Good on Germany...this is exactly what the Kurds need.

I believe Canada is also sending advisors to Kurdistan.
