This seems significant.

What are they up to?

Sen. Ted Cruz says the comedy of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” is at risk and creator Lorne Michaels could be thrown in jail if a proposed Constitutional amendment on campaign finance is passed.

How can the Senate pass a Constitutional Amendment?

Doesn’t it have to get a 3/4 majority of votes from the individual state legislatures also?

SNL will be OK. As long as they attack Republicans only they won't be in any legal trouble.

Anyway the chances that 2/3 of each house of Congress will support this, and that 3/4 of the states will ratify it, are virtually nonexistent.

On the other hand, "virtually nonexistent" is a phrase many of us used to describe the chances of ObamaCare making it through the Supreme Court, as I recall.

Yes. That's why I often wonder what Cruz was indoctrinated with in Harvard Law School. Or is he just politicking in an election year like the Democrats are?

This should make for some excellent campaign ads this fall.

“Senator Franken voted to repeal the First Amendment.”

Virtually non-existent until the msm spends the next 6 months, telling us all, day in, day out, night after night after night, just how virtually necessary this mess is.

half will cave to the whim and will of the msm, the other half will quit the field of conflict from argument fatigue.

I'm not objecting to Sen. Cruz politicking.

I just wanted to get the legislative details straight.

I can’t see this getting a bare majority in the House of Representatives, much less 2/3, until the time comes when more than 2/3 of the House members are Democrats. At the state level it should be almost impossible to get 38 states to ratify it. It’s not the same as having a 9-person Court where Obama only had to blackmail one “conservative” into seeing things his way. “Nice couple of adopted kids you have there, Justice Roberts, would be a real shame if they were deported.”

Yes 3/4 states are required to ratify but the danger is the amendment will be advertised as an ‘anti-corruption’ amendment that reverses Citizens United and it may just get enough moderate and liberal dummies to believe the amendment is valid and necessary. Ted Cruz is sounding the clarion call to reveal it for what it truly is.

Yes it’s a liberal amendment but the liberal media will window dress it and launch corruption investigations in an attempt to make the public want an end to the political corruption ...

and voila, an anti-corruption amendment that they can use to squelch conservative financiers and conservative voices.

They’re going to repeal the first amendment’s free speech clause.

You’d be stunned at how many people support this btw.

We are truly living in dark times.

Tyrants don’t like dissenters. If only they could take away our guns they wouldn’t have to shut us up...

The US Senate is passing a resolution that openly states that the Free Speech clause of the US Constitution is repealed.

And everyone here thinks that’s a GOOD idea???????????????????

Can anyone here even tell me who Citizens United is? How they ended up in court? What law they were accused of violating?

Just say “no”.

We are truly being ruled by the ignorant and the stupid.
